Yes I know that , but they have 12 million currently in available cap space due to LTIR that Chicago can easily use to take on expiring contracts and in the process get high draft picks and or high prospects in return.
Saad , Smith maatta , Gus and both goalies can be moved - Taylorst1
And how does that help the team improve in the next couple of years?

Agree. Criteria for new GM.
1) Never made a bad trade
2) Never handed out a big or long term bad contract
3) Never hired a coach that did not work out
4) Never gave out a contract with NTC or NMC
5) Built one or more Stanley Cup winning teams
Good luck. - -Doh-
damn it, I was going to apply, until I read the 5th criteria. |

Tommy Ivan traded Phil Esposito and Ken Hodge for Pit Martin. - rpeters01
He also sent Fred Stanfield in the deal. The Hawks got 2 other guys in the deal and sadly they were...just guys. |

Hodge had over 300 goals in Boston and 50 one year. He was better than Pit Martin who was a decent player all by himself. Marrotte was with Chicago more than once somewhat of a protector nobody even John Ferguson wanted to fight him. |

Hodge was a young guy that they thought would never reach his potential. Played 4th line on the Hawks. Stanfield for the Hawks was the equivalent of a 13th forward today. The Hawks were going to lose him in the expansion draft. Esposito was considered a lavender sniffer in addition to speaking his mind.
Scenario sound familiar??? |

He could also go behind the bench after he fires his coach. How many times did he do that? - LAHawk
There used to be a "Richard" Tracey cartoon where one of the bad guys was named Mumbles and that's who Pulford reminded me of - not because he was a bad guy but because he'd give an interview and it would be like mumble mumble mumble. What did he just say? |

Here is the article. It says the Hawks might be interested in Moore, and the Bruins are looking for a Saad/Kreider type of forward. No mention that the Hawks would trade Saad for Moore.

Anything we mention that we've read is speculation , possibilities . But Stan has made some awful decisions regarding some of his trades on the return aspect, panarin for saad or joker for Nylander - Taylorst1
The Nylander trade cannot be ruled as terrible until you see how Nylander turns out. Funny how Jokiharju was able to fit in Buffalo without the training regimen issue and or whatever other issue causing a rift. You can surmise what may have been a communucation or attitude problem between Jokiharju and someone in the Blackhawks organization
The whole unfortunate issue with Panarin is that Bowman put himself in a pickle by pnot having enough compete physical wingers who either are willing along the boards or fast big bodies barreling down upon dmen. That and he gave too much dollars and term to Seabrook in particular. So to get the salary cap compliant and a big body like Saad in the fold, he sacrificed a top skill forward. Bowman needed to get the team with a different look hence Saad return but proper management may have98888 isfix some issues. And Saad is merely a third line player. Remind me who else in that trade. Recall 5hough Panarin was a Bowman "find." So Bowman had a legacy of good and bad player moves. But you cannot accurately make a blanket statement that his two trades were terrible. You need to look at the context and understand what 5he circumstances were. Answer this too: even even minus Seabrook I do not know that we could have signed Panarin for the big dollars paid by the NYR. |

Well, teams were having to trade good players for cap reasons for about 10 years prior to them signing their current deal. One of those teams was the Chicago Blackhawks every year after 2010. Their own teammates had to leave for cap reasons. And yet, they didn't know the ramifications of their deals? - mohel
They were probably fed a line of BS similar to the one that gets the players to vote against their own self interest with the accelerator every year. It's astounding that they fall for it. |

Your right , but IMO instead of wasting a trade that maybe helps the team short term, Chicago should realize that they need to trade off any players of value for high draft picks and young high value prospects and embrace a true rebuild.
As a example I hear Stan is seriously looking to trade saad yo Boston for John Moore?
That to me seems ridiculous , Chicago has 5 spots currently on lockdown for the foreseeable future,
Try and target a young high defensive prospect for the future or another young high prospect center. - Taylorst1
Stop reading that trash site HFFeed or something like that. They make up more stuff than JJ |

Gilles Marotte and Jack Norris. Marotte was supposedly the big get. Talk about soft. AS my Dad said back then, looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane.

Almost all contending teams that want to add at the TDL are up against the cap and can't afford to take on, for example, Saad's 6M without sending a salary back. As much as I would like to see the Hawks get a high pick and the next David Pastrnak from someone, it likely isn't happening. - boilermaker100
Trading Saad for a journeyman like Moore should be enough to satisfy some on this boards bloodlust for Bowman.

Habs - Hawks about to start.
Hawks will start flat (as usual) be totally outshot for the first 10+ minutes maybe like 9-3 and find themselves trailing 0-2.
It is after that we have to wait and see....will the Hawks re-group and play pretty solid (like the 2nd period last night)....or will they just lay down and allow themselves to lose 5 or 6-2.
Hopefully they have the legs to mount another comeback. I hate losing to the Hapless-Habs, so counting on them to suck it up and win 4-3.
Tick-tock......almost time to drop the puck!!! |

Gilbert should be playing his plus minus is really misleading as most of the goals were not his fault. If anything put him on the wing to be physical and throw his weight around. And if one of our dmen get hurt or playing atrocious he can take some shifts.
We just have so many holes up front with shaw Saad and strome our. Highmore sikura and kampf are ahl players who do nothing extraordinary at the nhl level. |

Smith is okay, he doesn’t hurt us other than taking playing time away from a young player, but with current injuries it works out. Salary is easy to get rid off with an assignment to Rockford or buyout. He’s the least of our problems. |

Now, can they not ease up, and keep coming at those dastardly Habbers!!! |
