at league minimum it's a no brainer. Why not?

What do you have against Iginla's time in Boston? Or am I misinterpreting what you're implying?

He had 30 goals and 61pts.

you do

and it handcuffed the bruins going forward with that stupid contract.

BUT this is a buy low situation, its not a #1 pick or 6 mill guaranteed, and he's gotta be better than the turnstile of bottom line players getting a shot on the #2

what pissed me off about Coffee, is that yeah, well past his prime, but then Mike O'Connell (I think, maybe still Sinden at the time) blamed the fans for the signing.

He shoots right on the left side, we need a right winger to play with Krejci on that second line. He's saying he'd sign for league minimum right now but that he wants to go to a contender. I don't know, I don't think he still has the wheels he used to have. I'm just tired of the B's desperately grasping at these used up players and hoping for a miracle. LRN2DRAFT !!

seriously, .. just about everyone they draft is a 3/4 liner, or shows a flash before fizzling

Part of that is draft positioning, the last few years making the play offs means you aren't getting those high draft picks. Not that it seems to matter because even when they do draft a good player they trade them i.e. Kessel, Seguin, Hamilton

It is hard not to lament the 2015 draft, because a Barzal or Kyle Connor instead of Zboril or Senyshyn would be great right now to fill that second line need. But DeBrusk and Carlo have been great, and the prior year of Pasta, Donato (now Coyle, an upgrade), and Heinen followed by stealing McAvoy the year after is hard to complain too hard about. There's not a single team who hasn't drafted busts in the top 20, I think Boston has a pretty good track record overall in the last 10-12 years. There's not a single team in the league that doesn't have a big need, and Boston just hasn't been able to get Krejci's wing solidified since Horton/Iginla (playoffs aside, Iginla had a great year).

Kovi probably isn't the answer, but it'd be stupid to not give it a chance if he's on board. Worst case you waive his entry level contract or trade for "future considerations" to one of the other teams that would surely take a chance on him.

Fair enough. It did cause cap problems the next year too.

I thought the Pittsburgh writer (Ryan Wilson on HB said he already signed with the Pens?

He doesnt and apparently neither do you. OT winner vs the Wings, two goal game against the Habs, 7 points in 12 games isnt exactly awful. Wasnt his fault his linemates poop the bed. Probably some of the worst hockey of David Krejci's career.

And Chiarelli is just a moron. He didnt have to trade Boychuk. Hes such a crappy gm he apparently didnt know how the salary cap works. You have to go for it sometime and Iginla was a good signing at the time.

getting Iggy, and paying him what they did was an all or nothing move. They lost in the 2nd round. His salary f'd them, they didnt win the cup, so in the end a bad move.
If they could have traded seidenberg, they probably would have, but they were stuck with his contract too, and with a bum knee was never the same, but yeah, they had to trade Johnny Rocket at the time because they coudnt afford him.

Now I'm seeing the B's might be interested in Tyler Toffoli, that I could get behind.
