Mike Babcock is clearly a wiener, but Chelios and Franzen can both (frank) off. Chelios thought Babcock was mean years ago. He's just so upset about it. Franzen got yelled at and had his feelings hurt. Go cry you babies. So what. A million hockey players would gladly get yelled at - with or without concussion symptoms - to play for the wealth therse guys played for. Now they are just whining and piling on and its lost it's impact. Boring as (frank) listening to these babies. Babcock is an bumhole. Okay. Good to know. Anything else?

Ceci hasnt been horrendous.
He hasnt been great
Hes overpaid.
But its one year.
Im ok with it

- Fakepartofme

Disagree.

But it really isn't fair for him to be playing as much as he is. He is way out of his depth.

Ceci has been ok, he'll make a few bad plays per game but nothing really egregious.

Bracco could get 20 goals a season
Havent seen him on a line with matthews so dont know yet.

- Fakepartofme

He has some talent for sure.

But he needs to get into the NHL by next year or traded.

His value will start to go down if the Leafs bury him in the minors until he’s 25.

I want to flag the hell out of this. But you're a nice guy RJ, so I'll let this one slide.

I'm curious to see what Dubas does. It seems like a backup goalie is a must if Koskisuo (sp?) or Hutch can't hockey and they could use a defensive upgrade. He's got his hands tied with the cap and doesn't have all the assets required to make big additions. Obviously, unless he moves out a bigger name like Nylander. It'll be interesting to see as a bystander.

I think the plan was to hope Ceci plays good enough to swap and upgrade him to a bottom feeder in January. Which would free up cap space.

But now they need to upgrade the backup position in December.

If that was the plan the leafs would have given him a big signing bonus to bring the actual $$$ owed down.

I think Dubas always intended on keeping him all year.

Huh?

Why?

Come January/February doing that would of been a difference of like 500K.

The price for a backup goalie is never high.

A Bracco-type guy would do it.

What he means is pay most of Ceci's money up front, so that when you are looking to dump him in January, a team that has cap room but no actual cash would be happy to take him off our hands.

Lots of jerks in the hhof.

Agreed. Also, times change. Scotty Bowman was probably one of the most abusive and manipulative coaches in the history of the league. He was also the best. None of these Babs stories came out until he was fired and he was fired because the team wasn’t winning.

I would think the difference would be closer to a million or more with a quarter of the season left.

A million is a lot to poor teams.

My point is that it doesn’t make much of a difference at all. At that point in the season it’s mostly cap being thrown around instead of cash.

There is reason they didn’t give him bonuses and it could be many reasons. It could of even been to build trust and show Ceci they want to work with him instead of dump him.

But either way, Ceci’s contract isn’t much different come TDL if he has bonuses or not. It’s a difference of a few thousands.

Barely man.

Ceci could of not wanted SB.

And we can all agree the Leafs would be a worse team without him right now. No one is replacing his 22 mins on the RS so I’m pretty happy we have him. He’s a guy they can plug into their top 4 and have zero commitment past this year. It would of sucked if they lost him for nothing. They don’t have anyone to play his mins.

This is the way it worked out and 1 million in cash doesn’t cripple their chances in trading him.

Oh good, you are still on this.

I was worried you had come to your senses and figured out that a 16-year-old who was under the weird influence of a cultish agent (and the 16-year-old never committed a crime) should be cut a little slack.

Carry on.

I was just pointing out that there are a lot of people in here with strange double standards.
Babcock didnt do anything close as bad as new Jesus Keefe - however it's easy to kick people in the back and be part of the 'speaking about defending people's rights, so i'm really cool' crew

What 2 Watch 4: TOR vs PHI - Flyers forecheck.

Flyers dump it in more than anyone & forecheck well.
TOR still adjusting to less aggressive style of DZ coverage under Keefe.
7 of 9 goals against at 5v5 in last 5 games have come off dump-ins w many featuring extended cycle plays.

a bad matchup for the Leafs?

Not necessarily the biggest obstacle though. It'd be finding a serviceable one that you can fit under the cap. I was under the impression the Leafs will have like zero room, when Marner's back.
