Islanders beating up against mediocre and bad teams? Do you know how lazy that is- this is literally the easiest thing to check with the schedule.

The last 6 games of the 16 game streak (~40% of the total streak): Pit, Pit, Phi, Tor, Fla, Pit- all good teams.

The 10 before that: Ott, Buf, TB, Ott, Arizona, Columbus, Winnipeg, STL, and Fla.

In the entire 16 game point streak, they’ve played Ottawa twice and 14 good teams (the worst they’ve played besides OTT is Columbus Toronto and Buffalo). Stop being lazy and do basic research.

Oddly, yes.

The Atlantic has been disappointing this season, outside of the Bruins.

-Pittsburgh is littered with injuries. Nothing impressive about those wins IMO

-Tampa Bay was still not playing to their potential. That same week you beat them they lost to the NYR 4-1 and gave up six goals to the NJD. Again, nothing impressive about that win at the time.

-You beat buffalo when they were on a back to back. They had just got stomped by the Caps 6-1 the night before.

-The Jets are AVERAGE.

-Toronto stinks and everyone knows it

-Philly and FLA are average bubble teams

-STL was a nice win.

Lets see them beat the Caps, Bruins, or Oilers.

Lol...I mean you could do the same thing with the Capitals

Since the Isles streak started Oct 12th:

- You beat a bad Dallas team

- You squeaked by a team, in Toronto, that you said "stinks" twice

- You split two games against an ABYSMAL Rangers team

- You beat the abortion in Calgary twice

- You beat a bad Hawks team

- Took a shootout to beat a meh Vancouver team

- Beat a bad Ducks team

- Got crushed by an average Montreal club

I don't even feel like doing this anymore. You try can explain away a million things but the reality is that the Islanders have taken 31 of 32 possible points over the last 6 weeks or so and that's incredible. Everyone has to play everyone and if it were such an easy feat to win all the games that you were supposed to win then it's kind of odd to me that these unimpressive 16 game point streaks don't happen more often.

I thought I gave NYI some great love as they deserve. It has been an incredible season and run for them so far. I had to nit-pick somewhere. Call me lazy but it was just an observation. I couldn't find many weaknesses in their season thus far. Feel free to share if I totally missed something.

I think the Caps are not as good as their record indicates. They have squeaked by some mediocre teams and lost to some bad ones! We are lucky to have got those points when we did.

So you picked three teams out of 31. That doesn’t mean they’ve beaten up on trash. They’ve beaten contending teams.

By trying to discredit their 15-0-1 streak??

It has so I'm not sure why you would try and diminish it? I get your a caps fan and they are rivals but it doesn't make you any less of a fan to admit the Isles are playing great

You did? Can you point out where the "great love" was?

I mean, I guess if we're going to refer to "STL was a nice win" as "great love" then sure...it would appear that you did

PLUS: They are the hottest team in the league right now. They are on a 15-game point streak and have earned 29 out of 30 possible points during the stretch. The Islanders rank #4 in the league in Goals Against/Game at 2.42. Just like last year, goaltending has been top-notch. Both Varlamov and Griess are putting up elite numbers. Griess leads the league with .938 SV% and its #2 in GAA at 1.98. He is in a contract year and likely won’t get resigned with elite goalie prospect, Sorokin on deck for next season. Sorokin and Varlamov are both Russian and have the same agent. Why not have Varly mentor him? The Islanders’ defensive and goaltending trends/numbers shouldn’t surprise to anyone familiar with the Barry Trotz system. He has a knack for defense and for every team he has coached he has had a Vezina winner/finalist (Renne, Holtby, Lehner). Projecting at 134 points, they are currently on pace for the Presidents Trophy.

MINUS: Not much to say here cause they are doing pretty much everything right.

The team with the best record in the NHL is in second place in this division. That should tell you how tough the Metro is. Unfortunately garbage franchises like the Rangers and Devils weaken the field.

The Crapitals have played a softer schedule than the Islanders idiot. And they played the AHL Rangers twice 🙄

Caps also look unconvincing much of the time; that has sort of been their MO for a while though...definitely results in a bit of a yo-yo effect: sometimes they pull away, sometimes they come back and stick-the-landing, and other times they just can't keep up and crash-and-burn.

Stealing pts in OT and shoot-outs is great, but I'd feel better if they learned to close out games. Comebacks are great entertainment though!

The Crappytals have now lost more games against teams that didn’t make the playoffs last season than the Islanders have all year. Not sure how any joker can possibly have them ranked higher than the Isles at this point

I don’t think anyone is being sensitive due to homerism it’s because your blog was inaccurate and it comes off a bit lazy. Though I’m not really sure why it’s a big deal? That is pretty much par for the course on this site.
