Between your jinx and my gut the Oilers are guaranteed to lose tonight.

Oilers have yet to establish themselves as a legit playoff team imo. They capitalized on a buttery soft schedule to start the year and have played good but not great hockey since.

Still 59 games to go and so much can still easily go wrong.

Edmonton media is all aboard the hype train to drum up ticket sales but they are just a bit premature.

American Thanksgiving, or after this road trip, new years day, or even better yet after they have clinched a playoff spot is when you make grandiose statements.

Each time this year that I started to believe in this team they managed to lose. Twice already against "bad" teams.

A winning streak/record on this road trip goes a long ways to build confidence in this team, 500 hockey is just more of the same, a losing streak and all these happy feelings go bye bye.

If Tippett has them bought in. If Holland has found a successful supporting cast. If the players themselves have taken the next step in their development... The team will start winning games like tonight consistently and string together winning streaks of 3 or 4 wins + before losing a game or two here and there.

I still don’t see the point in tempting fate even if you commenting on the shutout doesn’t actually affect it

Also, a bounce or two, couple saves here or there, the oilers could certainly lose this game.
They’re not in an echelon where they can show up with their B or C game and walk away with wins on a regular basis.
There’s very few teams over the last decade that can do that.
