I hope someone lights a fire under their collective asses to play as a team and put this funk behind them. I'm kind of thinking that that someone hasn't/won't be Peters, since he hasn't done it yet. It's going to have to come from inside the locker room. The team to a man needs to man-up. Yes, they're dealing with some injuries. So are the Blues and just about every other team. The Flames' woes began before the injuries. I'm surprised that no one is calling for Tre to fire Peters and hire Babcock (not that that would be any better, considering how he failed in Toronto). |

They are dealing with adversity. And not dealing well. Lets hope they can find a reason to win. |

We've been through 3 coaches in the last 5 years. At what point do we stop blaming them for everything?
The coaches have changed, the core of the team hasn't. I'm not saying we go out and trade everybody, I'm just saying we go through this every couple of years, and the only consistent thing on the team during that time is the core players.
That said, this team is better than they are showing right now. I don't know what the Hell is going on with them but they shouldn't be playing as poorly as they are. I've seen it mentioned before that 3 players were traded throughout the year on deals that fell through, and I think it might be correct to assume that has thrown off the chemistry in the room a bit. I think fixing that needs to be top priority and trading some players out might be the best way to do it.
I still think trading out some of our core players is a massive overreaction at this stage, as is firing our coach, but something has to give and Tre needs to do something to fix it. This team is better than this. This team won the Western Conference last year and it is mostly the same team as that one. But it is one thing to say they are better than this and another to prove it.
I don't know what needs to happen, but something does. There's still time to turn it around and we are far from out of it, but if it doesn't get better soon that won't be the case much longer. |

So I guess we're going with Backlund as the no. 1 center now ? I know Monahan has been off to a slow start but he's got the best shot on the team and Johnny's the best playmaker. Peters needs those two to play well...together. And Backlund playing with Johnny ? WTF ! Starting to see what Bingo was talking about. |

Maybe sit non-performing players? Are they better without (Mony, JG)? No, but if doesn't motivate, its maybe time for the old change of scenery... From all I've heard, they are a tight group in the room so I just don't know. Peters need to go in and kick a garbage can? Maybe Grats can suit up and we roll out Lucic, Mcgratten, Rinaldo, Lomberg and Chucky for some antagonistic fun? |

To be fair, regarding our two coaches prior to Peters, Bob Hartley was old school and simply counted on the forwards attack to get them out of difficult situations. Glen Gulutzan was clueless about matching lines, especially in the defensive zone.
A big difference between last year and this year for Peters' team is that last year the team played with heart and pulled out a lot of games that they otherwise would have lost. Whereas this year, there's little or no heart on the bench - even Gio looks downtrodden. Can't have that dour energy emanating from leadership. It spreads like cancer. |

Look at the laundry list of coaches the Blues have gone through. Just the last few, Hitchcock, Yeo, finally Berube knocked some sense into those guys. Obviously rooting for the Blues tonight but can we get through a game with NO injuries. Blais is out for us for 10 weeks (wrist) then Steen and Tarasenko out long term as well. Hopefully a good hard hitting western conference matchup between 2 skilled teams.
LETS GO BLUES!!!! |

Flames aren't waking up unless something drastic happens. There's no work ethic... players need to hate losing and it seems only a couple players do |

Old days are gone. Have to deal with players getting injured now. Thanks owners and bettman caving. Players have to police their own. No refs can do that effectively |

Not sure what Rinaldo was thinking ...that was a costly penalty. Not the only boneheaded play either. Calgary's just playing dumb hockey right now. |
