Well said, Todd. Really feel for the guy, and can't stand the people that don't give him any credit.

The guy put up some serious numbers on a team that sported Jordin Tootoo on the top line each night.

Looking back, those lineups (~2014) are now laughable and CS had a 925sv% on a 40 loss team that year!!

Well said, Todd. It's a shame it had to end this way for Cory. I was excited when we got him and it's just too bad that he never had any semblance of a competitive team in front of him during his all-star years.

Confidence is a funny thing..it can be very fickle as Cory has found out. When the Sharks beat the Canucks in the playoffs a few years back, it was because Cory didn't have his confidence and he let in a lot of soft goals in crucial situations...Then he goes on to good fortune for a few years and now this.

Ted Williams, the best hitter in the history of baseball, put out a training film decades ago (way before video existed) In it, he discussed the need for confidence for a hitter to be successful. The batter has to go to the plate with the mindset that they are going to "Hit, Hit, Hit, Hit, Hit." Not, "Will I get a hit, or Can I get a hit" but "Hit Hit Hit Hit Hit". You can export that same philosophy to Cory here (and really any endeavor you run across in life) Hopefully Cory is able to regain his confidence and come back to forms as an NHL caliber goalie.

Thank you, Todd. This was needing to be said. This guy carried the Devils when we weighed the most and unfortunately he got hurt. I hope he can get healthy and regain his confidence. Would love to seem him in the NHL again, even if it means not in a Devils uniform.

I don't think any Devil's fans are happy about how this is gone or are negative toward Cory. It's just a bad situation. Frankly, it's been a bad situation since we traded for him and he ushered in the end of the Brodeur era.

That said, hopefully he works things out and gets healthy. I think he showed he can play during the run at the end of last season and this year's preseason. I just don't know if he can get healthy and stay that way.

I was still really glad when he resigned here and thought it was the beginning of better days ahead. I'm wrong sometimes....

Cory deserved a better fate. I wish him nothing but the best and hope he returns someday soon.

He also always seemed like a good guy. First time I saw him start at PruCenter fans were chanting Marty’s better and just didn’t get it. Unfortunately this has to be done but I hope he figured it out in the AHL and can revive career here or elsewhere.

I think we all came to the conclusion a few years ago that Schneider would not be a part of the team that is competitive. It sucks that this is how it happened. Hopefully Blackwood can run with it, though.

They chant that at the opposing team when Marty played. I don't think I've ever heard the Devils fans chant that while Cory is in net.

Ay I wouldn't say the devils "slammed" the door in corys face...he had plenty of chances and unfortunately failed time and time again, nj had to do something because he can't even win a game he was a big time liability.heck he was the de facto starter this yr but failed again..its very sad to see Cory struggle tho he such a nice guy and always blamed himself even in his prime

I predict both goalies will get a chance to do their best Schneider impressions.

Of course, it won’t help things that Hughes will just be sitting on a curb in Short Hills, wondering why no one has picked him up yet.

Tukka has had a few sub .900 games lately - here's hoping for one more. They're also 1-5 last 6 games.

Bad news is that Bergeron and DeBrusk are evidently both coming back tonight.

I guess winning the draft lottery twice in three years is “figuring things out”.

Correct me if Im wrong, but is it true the last time we had a youngster as our starter was Marty?

Considering Brodeur was the starter for 20 years before the Schneider era I'd say that's a safe bet.
