Robbi Fabbri, who was traded straight up for a guy who’s worse than Girgensons scored 2 goals last night for Detroit.

Nah, we’re too good to take fliers on guys with good talent

Watching the Leafs...Matthews can float sometimes and let Nylander carry the puck and make plays.

Matthews isn’t wearing himself out every single shift.

- sbroads24

Matthews could play 18 minutes a night, and you’d only notice him for 2 of those minutes. It’s just in those two minutes he breaks the game open with a lethal shot.

Eichel’s bread and butter is puck possession. He is elite at zone exits, zone entries, and he possess the puck in the offensive zone more then almost every other player in the NHL (him and Panarin were tied at 1:07 of possession per game last time I checked which was around game 9 or 10 which was tops in the entire NHL)

Two elite players that get it done in different ways. Matthews and Skinner are very similar in the sense that they are both able to slip away from coverage and always find those open lanes. Matthews’ shot is probably the best I’ve seen in my life time. Eichel has an amazing shot and I wish he’d use it more, also would be nice if he can get set up in those dangerous scoring areas a little more often too.

Sabres in very real danger of falling down to 9th in the East soon. Ninth.
Sabres in very real danger of falling down to 19th in the League soon. Nineteenth.

That danger could materialize in just a few days, and with November's tough schedule, their current slide could develop into a full blown free fall, if it hasn't already.
Way too many passengers, once again, they need to collectively stand-up and take charge.

Would be a great time to come out balls to the walls and take 2pts.

Let's go Sabres!

I get that but my point is that it’s not 100% on Matthews every shift like it is Eichel

I completely agree. Whatever chemistry Eichel and Sam had last year has struggled to carry over this year.

The media said fabbri was struggling all year and the change in scenery could help.

Botts definitely needs to find someone like that

Nino last year was traded from the wild for a bum too.

Matthews also gets the benefit of getting 2nd line duties. He doesn’t play the other teams best players like Eichel (not saying Matthews is bad. He just had less to deal with on a game to game basis)

Exactly. Make the 2nd line as strong as possible and see what happens.

If botts gets home and doesn’t make some changes. I will be disappointed.

Pegula can’t let botts sit and not make a move. I get that botts is patient but still. You can’t waste another season

- Sabretooth9

I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting for Botts to make mid-season moves. He’s extremely patient and very cautious. Also the Sabres have zero cap space, making any trade a challenge.

I wasn’t able to catch the game yesterday, also not trying to make excuses for our recent stretch of poor play which was inevitable, but it doesn’t help that we caught a team like Tampa who was struggling and knew they had to make a statement this week to get their season back on track. If we win today I consider this trip a success.

Isles gave him away too for Clutterbuck. Pretty amazing how they wasted two top 5 picks in Nino and Dal Colle and watched their superstar walk out the door for nothing and somehow they got better.

I was just watching my niece at learn to skate- Nichols double rink.

Bogo and scandella were practicing on the small rink for about an hour. Both looked healthy, although they were mostly shooting and not skating.

Bogo was having a hard time beating the cut out goalie.

Were gonna have a logjam soon. They look close.

*both walked off the ice and gave their sticks to kids and signed a bunch of autographs. Good dudes.

The Sabres are 1-4-1 in their last 5 are they not desperate?

If they are not just fold the team and end it now.

“Something that may become another problem soon is Johansson as the 2C. He’s really cooled off after the good start.

First 8 games @ 5v5 per 60:

CF%: 47.1% | xGF%: 48.0% | GF%: 83.3%

Last 8 games @ 5v5 per 60:

CF%: 43.3% | xGF%: 37.9% | GF%: 36.3%”

They are desperate, but when you are playing a cup contender that’s also desperate and getting their former Norris trophy d-man back in the fold it isn’t an easy task.

If Buffalo comes out with a win today then I consider a Global Series split a success.

Maybe erod steps into 2c - between Johansson and skins?
Keep line 3 with vesey together.

Yeah they said Scandella almost went on the trip. So that makes sense.

I really hope bogo plays a few games in Rochester on conditioning. See where he’s at. That dude is shot.

If the Sabres hope to get into the playoffs this year, they’ll have to win against both bad and good teams. Schedule this month is tougher than the last and will go a ways to telling what kind of team we have.

So many people female dogged when people simply pointed out that the underlying numbers for this team got progressively worse towards the end of the first 10 games. "Just sit back and enjoy it". Um, no - we all saw this coming. We were badly outplayed yesterday and we've been trending in this direction for a while.

What I've noticed since the beginning of the season is that we rarely carry the puck into the other team's zone anymore. It's odd that a team built on attacking during transition still relies on dump-and-chase. I think that's why Jack tried to do so much on his own yesterday - he is obviously frustrated.

So if the Sabres don't have a great record in November, do we chalk it up to the fact it was an unfair test and therefore we need to see how they do in December
