Really depends on what the Devils do the rest of the season. Way too early to pick a direction here. The Devils went on pretty good streaks the past two years, and they could very well do it again this year.

If they're going to make the playoffs, keep him for the run. He might very well walk come free agency, but anything can happen in the playoffs.

If they don't pick it up at all this season, they should trade him for assets. A sign and trade to a team of his choice might work as well, and they could get more of a return that way (see Mark Stone trade). The Devils are going to be a very good team, just not quite yet.

Love how all the sources give an exact percentage. They plug him into their UFA model?

Fake news.

If I was truly an insider I might say "yeah I can't assign a simple percentage on this. If the Devil's do this then maybe Hall does that. If the Devil's do that, then maybe Hall does this. It's too early to tell. Any discussions are still preliminary"

But yeah somehow all 3 sources just spit out percentages. Haha.

Why would you ever want to move Lucic? You were so happy after the trade. I thought Lucic was exactly what the Flames needed?
- Ihatebrianburke

Lucic has been surprisingly great in his role this year. Unfortunately, that role should be making 2 million max, and he takes up 5.25 million of the Flames cap.

He will ink a 7 year, 11.5M AAV deal somewhere. The guy will be well worth it for at least the first 4 seasons. He can carry an AHL calibre line on his shoulders. Only a handful of guys posses the explosive speed to drive the wing and generate quality scoring chances like that.

Hall will not make Christmas with the devils if he doesn't resign
Should be able to be a 1st/or top 4 dam, middle rotation winger and possible prospect
The rebuild continues

I’ve been thinking Hall ends up in St. Louis as a rental. By the time Tarasenko comes back, the cap won’t matter and the Blues will be ready to try to repeat.
- RobShouts

How? Even as a rental Shero won’t just give him away and Blues really don’t have anyone to offer

Army won’t compromise the future for a rental. They would want Kyrou and Kostin. After that who are our prospects?

I’d like to see Hall as a rental. But the cost would be too much and I don’t want that

Should have tried to work out a deal involving Fabbri for him. Oh well

Hall maybe will get a first, prospect, okay roster player and NJ will have to take back a cap dump.

Yeah I'm not saying they won't get anything for him. But for Stone, with a guaranteed extension, Vegas gave up Brannstrom, Lindberg, and a 2nd. Hall might be more dynamic offensively but Stone is a much better player all around. I just don't think Hall is getting a 1st, plus a top prospect, plus a 2nd, plus a talented young player.
- eichiefs9

It really depends on who acquires Hall and if they can get an extension I guess. I would guess Shero chooses steam that has a higher chance of getting that done.

There’s no way NJ picks it up again. The only way they made the playoffs in 2017 is because Hall was MVP caliber and their goaltending was unreal. I think he gets dealt in January.

Have to agree. I think he gets a 1st rounder plus another asset. That plus could be a prospect, pick or decent player but nothing crazy.

Shero tends to get guys to pay up when he trades early and they avoid the deadline insanity and competition. So for example if St. Louis wanted him now he could probably get a nice little package. But the longer this goes the worse it'll likely get.

- Queenie_5_hole

I think Shero is a better GM than Dorion. So he should get better return than Stone. I think he should at least get a first round pick, B+ to A- prospect and a decent roster player. He might beef up a trade by taking back a poopty contract with term so the acquiring team he better extend Hall.

I don't see why this always discussed from Hall's side. Let's face it, they're not winning right now with him there, this IS a cap league and he's going to make a fortune, he's hurt too often to truly build around, and he'll be well into decline as their best young players peak. Take the assets and the cap space and move on.
- DarthProbert

Totally agree with your take. NJ can add some solid pieces to their prospect pool.

When you get 2 #1 overall picks in 3 years and wouldn't doubt if they keep this pace up that they will get another #1 or #2 overall pick, then of course you are going to be a very good team soon (unless your Edm with 4 #1 overall picks in a span of what 6 years? Although this year they are looking good so far)

Elliot Friedman about Hall on Hockey Night in Canada during the headline section:

"I think the Devils now know its unlikely they are going to be able to get a contract done during the year. I think its up to Ray Shero who is going to have to decide what the Devils' course of action here is going to be, because it think its very unlikely he agrees to sign with them during the year."

Shero's gotta trade him at this point, the sooner the better imo.

Oh those sources Ek
One at 40% one at 30% and one at 25%
That’s amazing
The fact that anyone would even predict a percentage on it as opposed to staying or Ginny... like pick one or t other
Nope they all pick a percentage like they are handicapping it. Ok sounds like really good reliable sources close to the situation
Ek sorry dude but you r a .... insert expletive here
Unreal - my sources

The notion of Taylor Hall going to Calgary would make a lot of sense - he's from there, great way to stick it to the Oilers' - BUT there is that one small fact that the Flames have no need for a top 2 line LW .... AT ALL ! They have Matt T and Johnny G, and unless the flames are ready to play one of those 3 highly gifted (and highly paid) players on the 3rd line, we can easily cross out the Flames.

Fact: Taylor Hall has been an EXTREMELY underpaid player. His 6m salary was good at first but when you win the hart trophy and are one of the best PPG players, you deserve almost double that. I expect him to accept nothing less than 11m a season. The ONLY, and I mean ONLY way he's getting less is if he's on a team with no state tax; that means Vegas, Florida, or Dallas.

A 4th inside source just chimed in. When asked about the likelihood of Hall leaving he said "I give that an E4" . This also conveniently fits into Ek's narrative.

I'm confused why the Devils would even want to sign this guy to an 8 year deal? They are rebuilding still. Move him for futures.
