You're right.. There is no Wendel Clark type player on this team.
To be fair though, how many team's have a guy that could score 30 goals that is also able to beat the poop out of you?
Collectively, we need to be tougher.. If someone on gets hit, defend them don't fly-by and say 'excuse me'.
Just like how Palmieri responded to Niskanen's hit on Hughes.. We need more of that. It can't just be the Gauthier/Shore types.. We need everyone to give a poop.

It could be optics. Rielly and Ceci were so bad for over a third of the game, that by contrast Marincin didn't look THAT bad. He was ok on the PK again (but that's really his niche).
I mean if everyone else played well, and that's basically as well as Marincin can play, he'd suddenly look like the worst guy on the ice! |

He played against 2nd and 3rd lines....Id say he did well for a 7th D.
I think some team will pick him up for a 6th round pick. |

I tried to warn the fanbase, but it fell on deaf ears. It was very clear (from an unbiased opinion) that the Leafs defense was lacking. In fact, the Ceci trade is looking worst and worst by the day.
The leafs need a way to an actual defensemen, but now they are lacking their 1st. Who goes and to where? Nylander? Kap? |
