female doges to Toews, who whines about every call that goes against him - especially when he gets thrown out of the FO.

I don’t understand why Seabrook should be told anything by the coach. If Seabrook can’t see that he sucks, that his problem. seabrook should retire or find a way on to the LTIR. In fact, I wonder if he is even capable of fulfilling the contract. There has to be language in there about ability to play.

His teammates aren’t doing him any favors by coming out upset and not playing. They let the team down over petty BS. Lehner deserves better.

- gifman

In my opinion, Lehner deserves a fat contract from Stan and a C on his sweater to go with it.

I do like that he’s pretty frank in interviews and not just a bunch of stupid sports cliches.

After all he's gone through personally, he doesn't have much of a filter. What you see is what you get.

Well, they did get some school improvements into the contract that wouldn’t have been accomplished otherwise - binding commitments for class size reductions over the life of the CBA, more support staff at the school level (nurses, social workers).

And they’re not asking to be paid for unworked strike days -they want to extend the school year to make up the lost days. That’s a lot different than “getting paid for days they refused to go to work”.

I didn’t particularly support the strike -I don’t like Sharkey’s and Gate’s militancy - and that much of the bitterness was due to the Union supporting Preckwibkle for mayor - but at least some classroom improvements will be implemented.

- StLBravesFan

Extend the year? What kid wouldn’t want that? I’m not allowed to go on strike, and they shouldn’t be either.

A lot of Seabrook bashing going on here. Seabrook is not a #2 D anymore, he’s a #4 or #5 Dman now on a good team, the issue is that we don’t have #1 and #2 defensemen, we have many 3, 4, and 5’s. If we had a good top three Seabrook would be fine and he would be fine on a cup contender. Is his salary matching his play? Probably not, but he is still a good defenseman in my book, and if his salary was $4M a year, would you still be complaining?

Hopefully Stan will renegotiate the contract based on a full season not on 6 games.

not yet and goalies should not be captains...they don't play everygame and they can't leave the crease to interact with officials about calls and game situations..

yes luongo was "C" in nuckland...and their were some problems with that...

Hopefully it won’t be Stan doing the negotiating.

Teachers get pretty crappy salaries considering the education requirements, responsibility and value of their profession. I can understand their frustration.

And that is why the reason for this website is so important. You hear things from solid fans, with whom you disagree. Seab's has a wealth of information to draw upon, and still makes good reads. However willing he still is, his body and creeping age, are no longer in compliance with his head. As a huge Seabrook fan, it hurts me to see/say it. I honestly do not feel he would fare that well on a cup contender anymore. Could he fill a roster spot for the expansion Seattle team? Absolutely! Again, Angotti, not arguing with you personally. Your viewpoint is a valid one. I simply disagree with you. NO ONE has to be a winner in this exchange of ideas. I'm simply thrilled that we have a place to do so.

80-125k a year with a full pension and tenure for a 9 month job isn’t bad. Never heard a group of people complain so consistently about the career that they chose.

Teachers may not have the opportunity to get rich but they can certainly be very comfortable for life. Less upside but a lot less downside too.

Depends on public or private. Each has its perks & drawbacks. Most teachers, that I know, work all year round. Summer school & outside activities. Teachers do get jipped on a lot of poop though. Administration & most parents are (frank) wads. Tenure is hard to get from what I have seen.

The wage is good up here for teachers but there are some States where teachers are in the $40K range. I hear you about whiners though. I too don't get why they complain?

I think MOST ADULTS have jobs that require year round participation. They also have the ability to spread their salary out over the 12 months, so they are not without pay for the summer.

There's easy parts to the job. And some parts that would suck (parents that don't care, little Andrew Shaw types in the room). Just like most jobs.

I live 2 blocks from a High School. 3 of my immediate neighbors are teachers, as well as my sister, and several other family members...none of them work a single minute during the summer.

The whole thought behind pensions, especially in the public sector, was deferred payment. Less money now, for the security of the cash flow continuing to roll in after retiring. Over the years the constant female doging and moaning over being underpaid has resulted in the salary going up without a corresponding decrease to the deferred portion of the salary. It’s gotten to the level that the pension portion is not only unsustainable, but also no longer deserved. Get paid now, or get paid later, not both.

End public pensions.
