Erik Gudbranson is still on the ice for the morning skate with regular scratches Juuso Riikola and Chad Ruhwedel.
John Marino left the ice much earlier. |

Im just hoping that if we acquire someone is by dumping JJ and or Guddy.
If we're getting an UFA that wont move the needle Id rather use the callups, at least you see if you have someone ready. |

Horny is at least on the ice today. Didn't look like he had a non contact jersey either. Can't be that serious |

Same. A Johnson an Lafferty both looked better than Kahun in preseason. He's still getting a jersey. They at least have to try with the kids.

We have a good young F that would look great on Sids RW - can skate and has a helluva shot ...
You could have him for a 2nd round pick -
I’m sure they have direct flights from SD to Pit.
Let’s do it - |

They are all the same age. Johnson is a bit older than Lafferty and Kahun. Kahun has proven success in this league. You have to play him to see if he can replicate that. |

Pettersson will have the blow the doors of this thing to exceed the $3M mark by a large margin. If he proves to be a solid 2nd pairing dman then I think they sign him around $3M/$3.5M. - Rinosaur
Not too many defensemen on a second pair that get less than 4M when their contract is up, regardless of how good they are. |

And they have played him. I'm not saying take him out (I don't think that's even an option). I'm saying at least try the guys that looked better than him in preseason before signing anyone. |

Once again a guy who provided tangible offense just a year ago is a bum. I hate Boyle but 18 goals at an nhl level is becoming harder and harder to come by. |

I'm getting nervous and just waiting to hear GMJR announce another "what in the hell were you thinking" deal. My guess is that he finds a taker for Guds then wastes the cap space on someone like Boyle. I hope I'm soooo wrong.... |

Oh ok, I thought you meant they should be playing over Kahun. I'm in complete agreement. I thought Lafferty was great the other night and in camp. He might not have any high end talent, but he has very little, if any, holes in his game right now. |

Goals per game has increased 4 years in a row, so it's actually becoming easier. |

Yeah, at this point you play guys like Kahun, Blueger, ZAR top 9 minutes and see what they do. Too early to just toss aside a cheap forward who a success last year like Kahun with so many open spots to fill. |

Have to agree with RW today. I like Boyle, but he really doesn’t move the needle. Better off seeing what we have in the young guys. |

I was sure todays blog was going to be a 1000 word rant about how Galchenyuk is injured and we traded away Kessel who never got injured
Along with the standard JJ hate and Gudbranson bashing |

While I think both Guds and JJ should be moved for salary reasons, you know Guds will be the easiest and most likely to get moved, and then they will keep JJ.
My bet is Guds gets moved to WPG for Lowry or Copp. |

I don't know, but maybe they need to see what they have in Marino before trading a RHD. Personally, I agree with those who say he should be in the AHL right now and I'm fine with Gudbranson (and think we'll be trading for toughness again if we move him), but hopefully Marino proves me wrong. Think he's going to be an NHL guy soon, would rather have him in the AHL and another forward if in case Hornqvist can't go though. |

See if he will sign for 1 year for league minimum, only 2 goals were on the PP, good at faceoffs. When everyone is healthy you play him, trade him, or trade someone else and recoup a draft pick.
Have to still move a dman for cap reasons to do this, but pretty sound logic to acquire him for nothing then send him or someone else for draft capital. Last 2 years he's been traded for a 2nd round pick. Even if you get a 3rd, great job all the way around.
RW has rightly pointed out all the draft picks JR has sent away, this gets one back. |
