Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks ready to roll with season-opening game in Edmonton After seeing significant offseason improvements to the team's forward and defense groups, the new-look Vancouver Canucks will kick off their 50th anniversary season on Wednesday against the Dave Tippett-coached Edmonton Oilers.

Thank you Carol! Especially for keeping us informed all off-season.
You have become my new "Clancy Loranger" for Canuck news.
Yeah I know, dating myself again.

Thanks Carol, I expect tonight to be a bit sloppy. 7-5 Canucks, Oil have no reliable goaltending and nobody is stopping Connor.

Thanks Carol.

Looks like last years bottom 6 except they removed Gaudette just in case he scores.

The PP units

Really looking forward to the next coaching staff whenever that happens.

I am very much looking forward to seeing in normal regular season conditions how the new acquisitions look. I also can't wait to see more of Quinn Hughes, there is so many potential great stories to watch.
Drop the puck and lets go!!!

Serious question what looks worse the Canucks bottom 6 or the Oilers top 6?

Not being a d!ck but, outside of Draisaitl and McDavid it looks at least on paper to be pretty thin.

I know Sutter is an NHL veteran but he’s been outplayed by Gaudette and they continue to gift him a spot because Benning made a bad trade for him. Disappointing to say the least.

However....excited for the season

Thanks Carol.
Going to be hard too watch any game in which the Loudini is playing in.
Much rather watch paint dry.
Not trying to be negative, but after suffering through some dreadful years, watching Gaunce, Granlund and Erickson, I was hoping that this would be the season that the Loudini would also be gone, although I fully expect him to disappear, on the ice.

Benning is the GM not the coach.

No poop Sherlock, if Benning had any brains he’d take the decision out of Green’s hands #Sutterbegone

Thanks Carol! Looking forward to the season, finally.

Love how there hasn’t been a minute played of regular season hockey and the tears and whinings have already started. Mmm mmm so tasty.

I think my point was I doubt Green is being ordered into player placement.

I bet you’re wrong and Benning dictates that he brought in Sutter for a reason, his reasons, so he gets a little more latitude than someone who’s outperformed him.

i get why they would want to limit hughes a bit but not having him on pp1 just seems wrong.

hopefully, he gets moved up quickly and this is just another situation like bb getting scratched the first couple games of his career.

that was a poor decision as well. green gonna green though (and i'm sure the higher ups agree or can't/won't talk him out of these questionable decisions.)

judging by the bottom 6 on both lineups its reading like preseason game #9

Maybe. Or maybe he’s a rookie NHL defenseman and they’re easing him into it, letting him quarterback PP2 and giving them two legitimate units to score with. But I forgot that all the ex-NHL coaches and GMs in here are 100% accurate in their limited opinion
