Cool article @NHL about Tallon and Q. Also some thoughts and tips on playing for Q from Patrick Kane.
-- No more than an hour after the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup in 2010, Dale Tallon's phone rang.
It was Joel Quenneville.
Tallon had spent 33 years with the Blackhawks as a player, broadcaster and executive. He had endured hard times and helped build what would be a championship team. But he wasn't there when one of his draft picks, forward Patrick Kane, scored the Cup-clinching goal.
Instead, he was watching on television at the home of Florida Panthers executive Bill Torrey. He had been fired as general manager of the Blackhawks the year before and just been named GM of the Panthers.
Quenneville had become coach of the Blackhawks early in the 2008-09 season, and his veteran presence had helped put a young, talented roster over the top. He had become close with Tallon along the way.
He passed the phone around the locker room so the players could speak to Tallon.
"That brought a tear to my eye," Tallon said.
It says a lot about Quenneville, Tallon and their relationship that Quenneville thought of Tallon in that bittersweet moment.
Now Tallon has endured hard times and put together a young, talented roster in Florida, and he has hired Quenneville to put it over the top. They hope it will be like Chicago all over again.
With one exception.
This time, they want to celebrate a championship together.
"We feel there's an opportunity to create something special here," Quenneville said, "and so it's an opportunity to do something we really didn't get to finish."

Saw somewhere that Montembault has stopped 90 of 95 shots faced this preseason.
Greco making noise about claiming a spot. I like Stillman, he will be first callup from Springfield, unless he beats out Brown or they trade Pysyk.
Greco, Tippett may be pushing Malgin towards the trade block. Malgin needs to have a big week to earn his spot. Hunt and Hawryluk in the mix, too. It's Tampa time, five games straight. 3 preseason then a home and home to open the year.

Rats-

I saw the 90 stopped shots on 95 total shots, too. Meant to put tht in the column because it’s an awesome stat!

I’d like to see Brown stay in the lineup. Hunt is a really intriguing guy to me - as I mentioned before, I love his simple, North/South game. Moving Malgin to bring in Tippett or Greco would be interesting...

I've read that Q likes Hunt, too. Hawryluk trying to find a spot, too. Those two alone seem to make Brouwer's chances to make the team very slim.
Greco is intriguing, I think he's 25 already, he earned a callup last year but only for one game, even though he seemed to play well. Don't know if he has to clear waivers to go AHL. Malgin does have to clear, but idk if he would or not. It's time for Malgin to step it up and take a spot on line 3.
FL should have three lines that can, and will, score, as well as a fourth that will stir it up and add their fair share. Questions are all about how they'll play defense in front of Bob.
I think they're going to be good.
I know they'll be fun to watch.
