As much as I want Bouchard to make the club, I still think a year with Woodcroft would season him very well. |

A ripe banana is a ripe banana eat that poop while its still good. If Bouchard is playing at an NHL level he should be playing in the NHL. If hes showing signs of fatigue or lack of confidence then send him back. |

Ah, don't you mean Benson can mentor Yammer and McLeod?
Or just Benson can mentor McLeod since Benson is by far has the most successful pro career to date. Yamamoto is still adjusting to the pro game and can't really mentor anyone. |

According to Rishaug, Klef says he expects to start the year next to Persson. |

Gagner and a guy who just got given away for lucic as nuges wingers.
I mean maybe neal bounces back. But Gagner is not a top 6 forward in the nhl.
Then about 50 bottom 6’ers, ahler’s and euro leaguers
And a euro leaguer paired with our best dman potentially as our top pair.
Koskinen and smith as our tandem in net
So. totally. Fuked
Still gonna buy center ice and watch them tho. Cause I’m an idiot |

Nurse-Larsson is pretty explicitly our top pairing. Klefbom being paired with Persson likely just means they're testing that duo out as a more offensively focused pair. Almost certainly doesn't last long.
I agree we're pretty (frank)ed, but hopefully they'll be fun to watch after adding some speed and getting rid of a certain... beer leaguer. |

Im still a little more optimistic. Gagner wasnt a complete train wreck with us or Van last year. Not a top 6, but not a complete waste.
Neal could bounce back, or just slightly increase on last year which is an improvement on Lucic.
Last year we relied on about about 5 guys who should have been on PTO's in reider, chiasson, rattie,
Jewels, spooner, brodziak, ect... as guys set in our roster (besides chiasson who was actually on a PTO). This year we are trying out guys who might be fringe NHLers and if they dont work calling up guys from within the system.
Not sold on Smith/Koskinen, but not completely turned off either. Ride each one while hot and they might be able to steal 3 games each.
Wont buy center ice, as every game can be found online if you know where to look, and pretty mucb any TV less than 15 years old can connect to a computer or your phone and i live in Alberta so all but about 2 are available on sportsnet.
I expect an improvement on last year. May only be slight, but considering 3 years ago we banked on them being out of the race by thanksgiving and last year i expected it by valentines day, if we can be in the hunt for early-mid march i am content. |

Just turned on the Skelleftea game to watch some Broberg and he immediately toedrags and dekes through 2 defenders to get a spinning breakaway chance then, a shift later, walks around a guy forcing a penalty. So far, so good
EDIT: Also pulled off a nice one of his soon-to-be patented net drives. Didn't score, but those kinds of chances are nice to see from a Dman. |

Leon and Connor are the dynamic duo...nuge and Neal could be a solid second pair(thanks u know who) ...the defense first schemes might drop the goal numbers down but if we can replicate what the Islanders did last year with that system Tippett will look like a genius... |

As long as JB (frank)S OFF for the entire year, and the team can get like 3-4 more wins and find a way to make it to OT about 5 more times, you get the same record as the AV's had last year and a playoff berth.
They weren't as far away from making the playoffs last year as most think.....however if one catastrophizes everything then it is clearly an impossible feat to accomplish. |

Probably below 2nd line average, but hopefully not too much of a burden. Barring the possibility of incredible chemistry, there's no way I see that line winning its goal share battle near enough- even harder with Gagner there. The best hope for improvement is from the bottom-6, in my eyes |

I agree our bottom 6 last year was a complete waste of icetime. Every game was just a prayer that they didn't get scored on until Connors line made it back on the ice. |

It’s all about his skating. Cause he certainly still has that lethal shot. I do believe it’s possible he bounces back tho. But beyond 15 and 40 will be tough. And probably not enough for what we need. Anything for lucic makes me happy. And Neal’s been a decent player.i di t hate him in that spot. But he could totally flop as well. Nuge needs help!! .

You’re not wrong. There’s a few. Nhl Reddit is pretty good. Did it last year.
But a few things-
I’m outta market so no sportsnet alberta.
Got some extra disposable income anyway.
It irks me when the feed lags (Reddit’s usually good, but yeah, it’s not that uncommon)
And I have chromecast so I don’t just have to watch on computer or device(mirroring is hit or miss) . I can stream the app to my tv. Which is so much better

I also expect a slight improvement. But I want more. |

Tips commitment to all out defence is the only chance this squad has at making the dance
Already bored thinking of how some of the games will go, but it’s nice to at least have some hope
Clog the sh1t outta that neutral zone and collapse around that fuking goalie !!! |

I don't think it'll be quite as bad as you make it sound, but I guess we'll see. |

On a side note, the Devils are holding a goddam fan vote for their new goal song and "Don't Stop Me Now" is on there! Why can't Edmonton be more inventive and exciting? Always gotta be the last to innovate or change their ways. |

It's been suggested by someone somewhere that the Oilers should try to swap bad contracts with Winnipeg and trade out Russell for Perreault. Their D corps is flaccid and weak right now and we need a 3C with some offense so it might just be a perfect fit.
Draiasitl- McDavid- Kassian
Benson- Nuge- Neal
Khaira- Sheahan- Archibald
Granlund- Perreault- Chiasson
Nygard, Gagner
Both contracts are for 2 more seasons and Russell's is only $125,000 cheaper, Oilers open up a spot for their young D while Winnipeg gets some coverage on D with a guy who can face top-4 minutes and keep the goal share losses relatively little.

In a heartbeat .... However, I wonder if there wont be a big improvement for Russell under Tippet style...I mean who better to collapse in his own end and smother the net and block a shot, even if it was he who gave the puck away... |
