Awesome to have Provy locked up for six more years at a reasonable cap hit for a #1 D-man. He's going to be a leader on this team for many years to come.
Sucks to hear about Patrick. Hopefully it's nothing too significant where he misses a lot of camp.

might be another year of the same from Patrick (72 and 73 games the last two years)

would be nice for him to be healthy and bust out
brightside is if not, he should be cheap on his new contract next season

I just heard on the stick to hockey podcast yesterday, Ovechkin has only missed 30 games over his whole career! That's like 2 games a year, and for the way he used to play and kinda still does, that's just shocking. Crazy how electric that dude is.

Patrick injured prior to the first practice? Is he related to Neuvirth?

Apparently, they ran into each other the other day. Like literally ran into each other. Explains a lot I guess.

NP injuried? I'm shocked.

What I'd like to see Fletcher do is submit a press release and state that TK was offered fair market value on a number of contract scenarios, and he can take it or leave it. Offer(s) stand for 7 more days, then they disappear and he can go play in the K, the EU leagues, or on his xbox. Too many changes this offseason for him to come in late like a Nylander and be next to useless.

That would be a pretty dumb move on Fletcher's part to start negotiating in the press.

rumor has it the Flyers are negotiating from the idea they should pay based on his TOI. His agent is negotiating based on his production. Who do you suppose is fair in that scenario?

I can understand the Flyers position but the league has always paid on production.

I think the Fiala contract is a good comp, maybe a bit higher and depending on term.

That could really backfire on teams. What would Provy's contract be if that was the standard?

BTW great deal for you guys. When second pairing defensemen in the league are making not that much less what that deal is, it was an absolute boon for the Flyers to get that done.

Production of course. Konecny camp will say the team controls his TOI, and his production would increase if he receives more ice time.

Yeah, I read this too. ATOI is pretty flimsy way of determining value.

Just like it was dumb to pay AMac $30M because Capuano was once desperate enough to play him for 25min per game, it's weird to try to lowball TK because the former coach didn't trust him despite him being one of the team's top P/60 and G/60 guys.

Yeah. I don’t like that he is still in Canada. Tells me he was anticipating this.

Patrick missed the final two games of last season with a UBI. Presumably this is a new injury. Perhaps he tweaked something hanging out with Gritty yesterday?

I don’t see an opportunity for provorov to be making significantly more than that deal in the near future. Ghost, sanheim, and very likely Myers are all better pp point options. There’s only so much money a 30-35 point dman can command no matter how good he is defensively

People are acting like Provorov took some kind of hometown discount. He was awful last year. He's never going to be an offensive dynamo, nor will he be a total lockdown guy.
