Anthems?
(JK...good signing for you guys) |

I've been hoping for a while that True North would play "Ask" after Morrissey scores.
But I guess the Smiths are fairly dated, as am I. |

Great signing! Looks like a good deal for both sides, Morrisey will be 32 when this contract concludes and he should be able to sign another deal at that time.
Now, sign up Connor long term! |

I think this is a great signing for you guys. In 3 years it will be an absolutely gem contract. Much like Schiefele is now. |

For the life of me I don't see any downside here ... all good ... no - all great !
Interesting that they sign JM with one more year before term and yet they are fussing with Connor & Laine who need a contract now ... seems ol Chevy is getting his math straightened out, first
And that I find interesting - what's the GM's strategy on signings ? ... it's not just amount & term - it's also order ... what drives the order of your signings ?
Certainly, it's easier to sign a guy who's "gotta stay" v one who "wants to go" ... there's more to it than that, however |

Now Chevy has to lock up Laine and Connor and hope Pionk, Niku and Poolman can help stabilize the defense and make everyone forget about Trouba, Myers and Charoit. |

Today is now Josh Morrissey Appreciation Day.
This deal will underpay him, end before his decline, and maybe save us enough on the cap to struggle through a dead weight deal later on (Wheeler, Little). |

Look at the Jets GAR list for 17-18. Laine leads the team.
BW: Scheifele and Wheeler tanked long before Laine moved up. He skated harder than either, and dragged them along. It was bad because 2/3 of the line wasn’t moving

Take a look at Little’s RAPM from 17-19, then Zubrus’ from 07-09. You’re heavily underrating prime Zubrus. |

Funny how everyone talks about "no one wanting to play in Winnipeg", yet players continue to sign long term deals here, ie. Byfuglien, Wheeler, Little, Scheifele, Ehlers, Morrissey, Hellebyuck, Kane, Bogosian, Perreault, etc.... Many of them insist on NMC or NTC's when they sign.
Also, I am hearing that Justin Faulk has Anaheim on his no trade list, while Winnipeg is not on that list.
Just some Ultimate thoughts....... |

Add to that- Phaneuf has been in talks with Chevy all summer and there are reports out of Calgary that Frolik has asked to be traded back to Winnipeg if possible. |

Buff on personal leave of absence - just freakin' wonderful! Now?
A Laine trade might bring in a pretty decent d-man+, right?

No thanks to either one. |

Or maybe Chevy locked up Josh because Byfuglien is on leave? |

I would bet they wanted to lock up Josh regardless of Buff.
Jut hope that Buff is able to get things sorted out - and wish him the best. Hopefully a quick return. |

You should keep an open mind to Phaneuf with the possible Byfuglien retirement. |

The players leaving were massively overpaid. It was Chevy letting them walk, not them wanting out. Jets haven't lost a star player yet. Seems to maybe even get some hometown discounts it seems. But yikes, without Buff that RD lineup is suspect. |

Trouba wanted out as did Kane but every team in the NHL will have players wanting out.
no one knows anything about Buff situation at this point so speculating how long is out is pointless right now
I would though love to see us acquire Honka, and that has nothing to do with Buff situation today, just purely a good hockey move |

The right side was suspect before - now worse! Need to wheel and deal! But no to Neon Dion! |
