LOL, well I stirred up this hornets nest quite nicely...
From my end, I don't have major issues with Mony, I think he's fine and hard to replace his value on the ice. I think he may still develop along the Stevie Y end of things where he becomes more defensively responsible later in his career.
If I had 2 negatives, well 3, on Mony they would be:
- Physically he's non-existent. That's been a detriment to his wingers and likely why he will never be the captain for this team
- He's not a great skater. IMO, the next contract should be no more than 4 years in length.
- He's not a great faceoff guy. He's good. Not great. And was sheltered with Lindy taking most/all right hand strong side draws last year. |

Man I get there needs to be grit but I take 30 per over grit all day long and ya he has dropped off last 3 years last quarter of season but give him some slack he’s had what 5 surgeries, and he’s still young and can learn all those other things but you can’t teach natural goal scoring like his
Gonna be a good year go flames go let’s get it going already !!! |

We need cap space something fierce. I think the market for Brodie is a lot sstronger now that Gardiner signed & it looks like Faulk is going to be heading to Anaheim.
There are at least 3-4 teams in need of a Brodie something fierce. Stone can play with Kyllington, & the way Yelesin has played these last few games spanking the baby Oilers, something is brewing.
I like the idea of a Chucky bridge like Werenski got 5.5, 5.5 & then 10 for an average cap hit of 7.0 & then we have to re-qualify him for his last year of RFA at $10.0 mill. |

Nope. Flames are in win now mode as much as any team. It would need to be a 1st line centre return, not a 1st line centre a few years away. - LittleBroDougie
Agreed. Would take coupling this with another trade, or confidence that Lindy or Backs would take on 1C without a dropoff (unlikely) |

Was Stone's deal an NHL contract, or two way? Either way, they are gonna have to make a deal and might have to eat something to get it done. |

So being hurt every year isn't a negative? If he's hurt so much that he becomes completely ineffective, why is he playing through it every year? |

Don't think it matters so probably one way. They can still bury his entire contract if he doesn't make the team. |

I don't think a bridge deal is the way to go, sign Chucky long term for a 6 year deal in the 8-9 MM range. With the way things going with salary cap going and then having to possibly qualify at 10 MM. Isn't it better to know you have the player locked up long term then having to worry two years down the line they want 10 MM plus.

I can see Stone slotting in as our 7th D Like Prout was last year and hopefully nothing more.
If Brodie is moved (and I dont think he will be) we need to get an affordable 3rd pairing NHL Dman as part of the return now that Vali went down.
If Mangiapane is signed and Dube and Smith Pelly have good camps I wont be shocked if Frolik is waived late in camp to make room for Chucky.
I think if there was a deal to be made for Frolik he would have been moved by now. |

I kinda agree & it would allow him to accept the qualifying offer for $10 mill & walz right to UFA. But then again, I love how Chucky plays the game but he has made enemies with most teams & he gets hacked, cross checked & slashed all the time. I would be concerned how he holds out over the next 5-6 years of that kind of punishment. Fcking league officiating blows chunks getting that crap out of the game. But I know what you're saying. |

Stone is better than a #7, he can easily slot in with Kyllington & free us to move Andersson up with Gio & leave Hanifin & Hamonic together on the 2nd pairing.
Brodie is a UFA that is not going to get signed because we cant afford him. Asset management sometimes means we take a small step back to be able to move two forward. |

Id love to have Tkachuk on the team. But if him and the rest of the RFA class want that much, then I say let them all sit this season! This is getting out of hand |

Marner turning down $11 million x 7 is crazy town. Then wanting a 3 year and 12 in year 3 ? If i'm TO, i'd either trade him or let him rot for year.
Correction, Marner wants $15 million in the 3rd year. That's insane. |

Well its Sept 11th and he just signed for 700K.
The lineup to sign Mike Stone was obviously not very long.
Prouts getting 800K on a 1 year deal. |

Don’t hate but signing Stone lets us trade Brodie now
Anderson Gio
Hammy hanifin
Kyle - stone
Yeltsin how ever and we have one or two more that could also fill in if not address as needed
It’s more important to have chucky in camp ready to go he’s a massive part of this team like him or not sonin Tre I trust and think he’s got something brewing for Brodie Frolik
And maybe janko or mang if he doesn’t pull his head out of his ass and sign |

Stone had been skating with all the boys at winsport the last few weeks...maybe he was feeling good and skating well and Gio put in a good word with the GM.
Its crazy this is allowed though. Same player but the cap hit is lower

They had to approve it through the league & was justified by Valamakis season long injury & the fact stone hasnt been signed by anyone for about a month since his buyout. What I like is that now this year we arent paying him to play against us. |

I looked this up because I too thought it was against the rules.
Apparently there isn't actually anything in the CBA that says teams aren't allowed to do this unless it is a Compliance Buyout. So basically it ends up being we get to keep Stone on a lower cap hit than he had last year, even counting the buyout penalty.
