So... did we ignore that Bell got LESS money than the Steelers last deal offered him? Or that his sitting out 100% DID NOT change a thing, because he got less?

Nah... gonna ignore those facts.

First off, Bell was the #1 ranked back in the league, so you're talking about a guy like Crosby or Ovechkin sitting out. Marner may be there.

Secondly, he lost $14 million by not playing last year.

Third, he's getting less money, even without factoring in last season's lost wages, with the current deal he signed.

Last, the NFL doesn't have guaranteed contracts, which makes this an apples to oranges comparison.

Pretty much. The only way this would happen is if the PA negotiated a soft cap/luxury tax system in the next CBA. If that happens, guaranteed contracts would be gone. Also, the smaller market fanbases will start to complain when the Torontos of the league start flexing their financial muscles to make it work.

That tactic smacked NFL owners in the head????? So I guess now RB want their own union now inside of the current unions because they are not getting paid what they want to be. If anyone got smacked in the head it might be the players. Only a fraction of players could get away with that, and to be honest Bell didn't even get away. But you know what NYJ have now. A highly paid player at a skill position that they don't allow to have contact in preseason. I assume that goes with a umbrella in his drink and a lounge next to the pool. Let's just see how this all plays out before running the Bell thing up the flag pole and claiming that is what the NHL needs.

At least no one in hockey has to play the running position, worst position career wise in all 4 major NA sports (maybe 5 MLS is getting there).

He got more guaranteed money from the Jets than the Steelers offered. Guaranteed money is the only thing that matters in NFL contracts.

That said, neither Zeke or Gordon can actually become free agents next year if they sit out this year either, so theyre pretty much in the same spot as the NHL guys.

Are you including the $14.5 million that he missed by sitting out last season?
