Better to have too many than not enough. Gus will be in the lineup, but possibly sheltered 5v5 with Seabrook (unless he shows great improvement on D). Maatta and de Haan are likely not going anywhere until/unless one of our prospects shows that they can take a spot. Both of them are movable and the Hawks will need extra space next offseason to sign DeBrincat and possibly Strome.
Keith is not going anywhere unless he wants to. He is still the best overall defenseman on the team. You are not the only one who is confused by the volume of D-men we've acquired. My guess is that Stan is gong to ride out training camps and preseason to see if someone needs a d-man. If so, he makes a trade. If not, he shuffles the lower levels. - Chunk
I suspect this was done for Boquist, plenty of other depth defense men on the team if looking to move somebody such as Murphy.
Damn it. I like Lehner. Chicago keeps getting players I like. I'm iffy with Pat Kane as a human, but his vision on the ice is the BEST in the league and one of the best ever. I need to hate the Hawks. I like Alex, Shaw and Keith. I do not like Seabrook nor Toews. Talk more about them please. - BluemanGuruu
Congrats on the Cup. Same thing here - once Backes, Pollack, and a few others left, the hate I had for the Blues dissipated quite a bit. Sucks, eh?

Congrats on the Cup. Why haven't you resigned Maroon yet? - Chunk
Maroon was awful during the regular season. He was solid during the playoffs but really only particularly effective in one round. He likely is asking for more money than he's worth, and the Blues have a couple of prospects they need to work in. They're also not quite sure what the Barbashev contract will look like yet.

So you are saying that the Blues aren't like the Hawks and don't sign guys for the good story? (just kidding here everyone).
Thanks for the insight. That's the problem with only paying attention to other teams during the playoffs. You don't get the whole picture.
I have to hand it to your GM. I love the 2-year deal for Binnington. Modest cap hit and short term to make sure he isn't a flash in the pan.

Stan may also find that he can get a draft choicee for an extra dman. Which is solid planning if you believe there is a strong liklihood to loose a couple of picks when bartering with Seattle over whom tbey draft
(or not draft). In essence when Stan's free agent signee is traded later on, he gets something from said player while here (service) and he gets something later on for free ( a draft choice). And these players are low cost too (Kempny, Ruutta, perhaps Holm).
Perhaps that economics degree from Notre Dame prepared him for future plans.
Could very well be. With so many bodies it is going to be interesting to see how everything shakes out. - Chunk
I would appreciate if each of the players receive a legitimate fair opportunity to make the team. Of course this is difficult to do within the amount if time in practices and ore season games.
Koekkoek and Dahlstrom justt one example. Obviously circumstances change throughout the season and someone may then stick around.
I say this in light of the fact that Stan has brought aboard a lot of new players. I just do not know how much time is spent teaching and practicing Colliton's new defensd system.
Would it cut significantly into player evaluation? And i suggest a first year professional and or younger players grasping a new system, is a bigger challenge than a veteran faces. Just makes for an even greater challenge for a Boqvist. He has to actually play and learn; a mentor or special assistant for him can help only so much.

Stay in shape for each spring playoff teams will be calling.
Maybe Blues could convince him to accept minor league assgnment on an NHL pay scale and promise a spring time of season playoff recall. Maybe a holiday recall when rosters frozen so he can spend holiday when Blues are at home with family.
I went to Notre Dame he's making more than me... - rpeters01
After the fax contract fiasco within Bkackhawks office, perhaps. Notre Dame looked to see how Stan didn t learn about that too
LOL
Was it a conspiracy? Who knows
But Notre Dame and Michigan have two of the best school songs their marching band play. Do they ever play them at hockey games?

You should go to a Wisconsin game in Madison, their Sieve chant is epic.

Dave Poulin was at Notre Dame when I went, since then hockey has gone and come back at the school. The full band didn't even play at basketball games. It was done on a seniority choice basis based on who the b-ball team was playing. We didn't play Michigan in b-ball. I got my father tickets to the football game when Harry Oliver sadly now deceased kicked the field goal to beat Michigan.
Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen implied during a Finnish TV interview that he’s asked for a trade from the Sabres. He added that he wanted to keep things between him and management.
“I cannot say anything other than the fact that on the 12th of September, I will be at one of the NHL team’s training camps,” he said.
Ristolainen has three years left on his contract at $5.4 million per season. He said during the interview that he hasn’t really enjoyed hockey recently.
“I haven’t been able to help the team win,” he told MTV Sports, according to the translation. “Recent seasons have been tough and I haven’t been able to enjoy hockey.”
Totally unrelated comment, I’m surprised no one has signed Brandon Perlini to an offer sheet yet. I’m not sure what the compensation would be for a $1.25-1.5 million per year contract. I don’t see the Blackhawks being able to match an offer and keep everyone.

You would have to give up a second round pick which I don't think teams would want to give up, hoping Perlini puts it together.

Actually $1.25m there’s no compensation $1.5m is a third round pick.
