If that's the case, that's ridiculous to me. Surely a bottom-feeder would take Reaves with a draft pick attached to him. After all, Vegas had two second-round picks the next two years even before this trade. Reaves still has value and $2.7 mil for one year isn't a huge amount for the best fighter in the league who isn't horrible at actual hockey.

I think Vegas will regret not getting this done.

Why would he? Hes got Simmonds very likely playing on a line with Hughes.. Pretty sure the kid will be protected enough

I saw this trade earlier today, and turned to a colleague to say "holy sh!t... the devils are actually going to be a playoff team this year!". Some question the transition from KHL to NHL. But Dadonov is proof that year 1 doesn't have to be a bust. Better than a PPG player the past 4 seasons in the K... he's going to be more impactful than most will think. As a jets fan, I would have traded Connor for Gusev to save cap and retain offence (albeit a different brand). However, I am aware of why that wouldn't work in terms of logistics... which is why Gusev had to go in the first place. Would've kept him over Tuch though if I were McPhee. That entire "top line" of VGK is going to regress as a whole in 19/20 season.

In short, kudos to Ray Shero. I will actually watch the NJD play hockey this year!
