All you would have needed to do was to kindly ask that the forum sticks to hockey. Instead, you made ignorant and unproven statements that stoke the fires of the very flame you sought to put out. - Hokeeguy9
Well said. I would love to debate that guy but simply not appropriate for Hockeybuzz. Nor is the other discussion.

I don’t think jmatchett383 was really concerned with stamping out racism with his comment. I think he was just trying to annoy SSB. You’re right tho, I shouldn’t have taken the bait. Unfortunately there’s not much hockey to talk and I’m bored. - Dkos
I wasn't trying to solve racism or annoy him. I just want players that help the team win no matter what their skin color/political/religious/etc. is. Give me the best team whether we have 0, 20, or some other number of black guys on it. |

Just curious, why is it important to you if a player is black or white?
And for the record, I don't care whether or not he makes the team, as long as he makes or doesn't make it on merit. - jmatchett383

Not that I think he will make this team but at 6’2” and almost 250 pounds he is thick and big. If he can still skate then hey. Might be good to stop gap if the kids aren’t ready or someone to call on to protect a kid. It is just a PTO. NO harm. - peesinwind
Chris Stewart is physically tough! I think we’re missing that. |

Okay. I'm white. I don't care if they Flyers have 0 white players on their team. What I care about is putting the best team on the ice. |

Ok? What’s that have to do with a guy feeling some pride when there’s a tough black player on the team he roots for? I like it when there are good players from USA on my team. Doesn’t mean I’m hating on Canadians or that I want a team full of Americans. Also, I want to go on the record that I might have a problem following a team that had orgies in the locker room. Call me old fashioned, but that just seems creepy. Ha ha - Dkos

They need to see if his skating is good, and I think that last spot on the 4th line is going to come down to team fit and the best player who can play the needed role.
Ray Emery is missed. Anytime someone dies young, it’s hard. His story hits like a ton of bricks. We can all learn so much from his life. - NC Flyers Fan
Ray Emery died on my birthday. One year younger then me. My favorite Flyers goalie ever! |

I am not so sure their are lots of options for 3rd line wing. Legit options anyway.
Raffle and pitlick need to be on the 4th line. If not then that is not good to me for a lot of reasons. If laughton is the 3rd lien winger then others failed to impress enough to get a spot. forgot about Vorobyev though not sure he is an nhl player. - daryl stanley
We’ll we have to wait until camp to really see. I definitely see there being far more 4th line wing options than best-case 3rd line wing options. Farabee, Ratcliffe, Frost and a few of the other center/wing players are all highly skilled first year pros. Laughton may not have the ceiling of those guys but I think he is a quality bottom sixer. Not a slight on any of the young guys if they aren’t ready yet and the Flyers are still significantly deeper even with Laughton on the 3rd line. I still think if one of the prospects don’t make it out of camp, they will be called up sometime during the season.

It’s a Caucasian dominated sport. So yes, I’ve had a different feeling of pride when Donald Brashear, Ray Emery and Wayne Simmonds joined the Flyers.
Everyone knows I’m a Brayden Schenn fan, so color is clearly not an issue. I’m just speaking my heart. |

does the slide rule affect their decision on Farabee? I would think if he was close and lets say it was between he and Frost, it would. |

Happy belated birthday! Sad stuff on birthdays is a tough thing, I know. Later I have wondered if it isn’t a blessing in disguise. First you remember more easily but then you almost always have distractions on or around your birthday.

I think the slide rule does affect the decision on Farabee but I don’t think it is related to any of the other prospects other than just a matter of roster space. Also, Farabee and Frost aren’t super similar, I think it’s more of an individual readiness thing and a line/team fit thing for those two.

I think they both bring something a little different but both bring skill and speed. They could both fit but if Farabee plays 10 he burns a year. I hope one of them earn the spot. |

exclude for conversation purposes only as what other options would there be besides him.
Dont want him on the 4th line as rather he expand his game on the phantoms and dont get pigeon hold as 4th line player so to speak. - daryl stanley
Seems like his game is built for the 3rd or 4th line. Though I don’t like pigeon holing young players for sure but if there was a role for him to thrive in it would seem to be that 4C role right now.
The kid is smart and as some of the coaches have noticed he is rarely caught on the wrong side of the puck.

don't know much about this guy but Flyers are mentioned to be one of three interested. That said, the Rangers are also, which is near impossible. - wcorvette

The Flyers when all is said and done will be close to the Upper Limit. How close will depend on where Provorov and Konecny come in at. - MJL
