That's better - K-man25
It's certainly possible I guess, though I doubt they recycle the old ones, and with the new video and lighting equipment being installed this summer they'll probably get more elaborate. |

The oil should take a shot at Vanek.
The guy is just looking for a place where he won't be traded.
1.5m/aav for 2yrs ntc wouldn't be too bad.
The guy can still play and make others better.
He had a pretty decent season last year. |

I’ve been saying the whole time we need a top 6 guy to play with Nuge....this whole time but once Nyquist got signed I lost all hope for a UFA fix for the top 6 and unless Holland has a magic wand and makes a trade happen I fear we won’t get one.....Dzingel is not the answer in my eyes....it’s just another “hopeful”.....I’m sick of hopeful.....hopeful is Puju turning into a top 4 drafted player....hopeful is Lucic reverting back to Boston Lucic....hopeful is Chiasson getting 20+ goals....hopeful is Benson making the team and getting 50 points....to hell with hopeful.....I want the sure thing - RatedR80
Wha?
Dzingel is a back to back 20+G/40+ point winger. He’s young and a solid skater. And what’s more, he was affordable.
If he didn’t want to sign here, then fine. But he most certainly is a top 6 winger, and would have gone a long way towards solving our current winger issue. |

I wouldn’t hate it. I wouldn’t love it either. But it’s probably the best we can hope for. |

Holland is really good at internal improvements. Not external. He’s mediocre through trade or UFA for impact players. Don’t expect much. - RafiDRW
Bashing the guy on the way out. You would think you would be grateful for all the success he gave you plus stepping down for yzerman. Sounds like a flame fan bashing even iginla when he left... |

Rafi isn’t bashing Holland, he’s giving an honest appraisal.
When I take a hard look at Holland’s last 5 or so years in Detroit, I can’t find anything in said appraisal to take issue with. |

My friend I realize I’m on my own with my opinion and that’s cool but I still say Dzingel isn’t who I would consider to be a true top 6 guy.....I’m the only one it seems who thinks he wouldn’t have produced here and then fanbase that wanted him would be looking for a noose to hang him.....he got his numbers in Ottawa on a bad Sens team......ok so of Dzingle is a true top 6 guy then is Maroon? He put up goals with us and not much on a cup winner....I could go on and on with examples of top 6 guys on poopty teams who fail to match the production on good/great teams.....also if Dzingle is a true top 6 guy then why wasn’t he signed on day 1? Every big name pretty much went off the board so why not him? Maybe other GMs see what I see too

Hard to say. My guess is that he wanted to be picky on his first foray as a mid level UFA.
We shall have to agree to disagree. But worry not, you remain a magnificently sexy sparkle beast in my eyes. |

He's the one I feel for the most. Sure we have everyone saying we're wasting Connor, yadda yadda.. But Nuge has been here since 2011 and is on what, his 7th coach in the bigs? And during that time it's been a mish-mash of styles and rotating door of wingers. - ChonDerry
Anyone that is struggling or playing like poop is put on his wing because he’s so damn dependable and versatile. |

You are a scholar and a gentleman and the Dzingel debate will play itself out next year.....the production will prove it for better or worse

What did he really do, other than inherit a team stocked full of hall of famers and then run it into the ground over time? |

You can’t argue the success he had....one big area that he messed up was is showing loyalty to players and giving out contracts that ended up hurting the team in the long run but that was also on ownership who wanted to keep the playoff run going.....if Holland has learned from his history of what he did wrong then it won’t be so bad.....if he hasn’t learned then we are screwed

I think the Stanley cups won in Detroit and the fact that the wings were the last NHL team to miss the playoffs in the cap era say different. - oiler993111
Ok pardon me. He inherited a team full of hall of famers, then was able to buy more of them because he was backed by deep pockets without a salary cap to deal with, and fell ass backwards into another one in the sixth round of the draft. It’s a pretty hard model to copy for your average GM, but also a way to look really good without actually doing much. Since the salary cap came into effect and his hall of famers have retired, he slowly drove the team into the ground. |

There is that.
He did sound like a big part of signing in Raleigh was because he wanted to play for Brind'amour.
...though I suspect with his fiance being involved in golf broadcasting, being in the Southern US probably helps her out a bit as well. - BINGO!

Probably the best argument and something people should keep in mind....if you are a good hockey player on the market and you look at the Oilers stats over the last 13-14 years would you be lining up to sign? So yes I understand the criticism with Holland but there are other factors unless Holland decides to severely overpay but then we sit and complain about the contract for said player

Not anymore, but they were a running joke two years ago.
Dundon has turned some things around in a huge way. |

Ho Sang isn't someone I'd be keen on investing in. Not only is he a unique personality (not something that flies in Edmonton), he's also shown a notable unwillingness to attack the front of the net. |
