There is nothing heavy about Dzingel's game. He is a horrible support player. All of his underlying numbers are garbage. He is a GREAT shooter though. 15% at evens is absurd. That's why he is such a good fit with Carolina. They don't need another two way dynamo to help them go from 57% possession to 60%, they needed another shooter.
- burgh4life87

The relative stats I like to look at had Dzingel as a fairly break even possession player (except in CBJ) being brought down by a bad team. Definitely not a possession driver, but shouldn't drag a line down eitger. Very good at offense in transition.

Agree with what you said, being on a great possession team like Carolina that he can be the finisher for a line should be a great fit. Wouldn't have helped the Malkin line, though more than Galchenyuk, but if he played on the first or third lines that had strong possession players, he'd give them an offensive boost.

Especially if you already have skilled players on the line that can do something with the turnovers they create.

As Sid gets older I think it's a bit much to expect him to be first in, force the turnover and create the chance every shift. He's been the most physical player on his line since Kunitz got demoted then traded.

- Thorny87

Sid, with his hockey sense, just read off the chaos Kunitz would create and use it to make scoring opportunities. That's why I won't be surprised if Tanev get a shot with him. Also, if he scored 14 with Lowry, 20 with Sid isn't out of his range.

Yes, playing with more skilled players will make your points total go up more often than not. The question is, could that skilled player help out someone else better? Also, what effect are you having on the skilled player?

For example, Crosby could play with Garrett Wilson, and Wilson will probably triple his point production from 5 to 15 points.. However, 1) a more skilled player may be able to get a 15+ or 20+ point increase playing with Sid, and 2) is a guy like Garrett Wilson going to actually hinder Crosby's production?

I'm not saying Tanev is Garrett Wilson, just saying that it's not always a good thing if a player's numbers increase by playing with a Crosby type.

I agree, To get to 82 games is easy as well:

3 games against the 15 teams in your conference = 45
2 games against the 16 teams in the other conference = 32
1 additional games against 5 of the 15 teams in your conference that rotates every year = 5

Total games = 82

If you do that, then there's no reason for divisions.

The league deserves to be locked out again if Tanev is getting more term and money than Dzingel.

Really like the divisional setup especially with Boston and Toronto playing every year in the first round. I can't get enough of the broons beating the leaf in the first round.

A GM has to get owner approval for all signings. The owners need to be saved from themselves.

I really enjoyed Vancouver fans talking about a four game sweep when they were up 2-0 in the series against Boston.

But I thoroughly enjoyed Vancouver fans burning down their city when they lost in game 7.

Bummer bruh

Agree....Id like to see the 1st round go to 5 games vs 7. I hate that the NHL goes into mid-june. Should be wrapped up by Memorial Day at the latest.

Knock 15 games off the reg season, makes more reg season games meaningful.

make G pads much smaller.

You think the owners would allow 15 games of fewer sales?

And what do goalie pads have to do with anything?

The Dominik Simon argument in a nut shell. See, Rust scores more often when he plays with Sid, but Sid and Jake score less often as a result of Rusts play. Simon doesn't score that often with anyone, but when he plays with Sid and Jake, they score much more often. Therefore Jake Sid Simon outscore Jake Sid Rust as a line making them better despite a single player on that line not producing to the same level as another.

Over the last 2 seasons Lowry saw improvement in every defensive category with Tanev on the ice (using per 60 rates). Granted, it is only 300 minutes away from Tanev, but that is still a large enough sample size to say that Tanev does have a positive impact defensively on his line. He also has a better Scoring Chances For % and High Danger Chances For % with Tanev. There might be something to the Tanev signing

Curious, what does the Simon vs Rust on Crosby’s line discussion look like in terms of goals against? What’s the goal differential comparison look like?
All that said I think Simon should play on the third line, he Bjukstad and Hornqvist were really good last year, and fun to watch.

Also If Tanev improves lines defensively then he should play with Malkin and Galchenyuk.
