Potentially one good thing I see about him going to RFD is being able to bond with some other players that could be in the team pic in a few years.

The bigger ? For me is will he get the coaching needed from King and are there any mentoring types on the team? I know Versteeg will be there and hopefully that’s a role he can embrace and excel at.

Brian Campbell worked with Boqvist last year on a few occasions. I would guess that option is still open.

Now that you mention it, it's been a while since Stan made a deal. I have a feeling another move is coming today, but it could be just gas I'm feeling, not too sure yet.

London lost solely because they were weak up-front. Simply didn’t have enough forward scoring. Boqvist had 10 in 11 and Bouchard was also great. Can’t fault the London D. Can we stop comparing Boqvist to Gus, as Gus is clueless on the ice and should not be in the NHL.

It's kind of an inevitable comparison. Outside of pedigree, they are very similar players. They both are offensively gifted, with below average defensive abilities. You could also strongly make the argument that Boqvist should not be in the NHL.

No Londondodn't lose soley because of scoring, they lost in part to that and in part because they were not able to deal with Guelph's forechecking. And the comparison to Gus is strictly in reference to they both have strong offenssive skills and are not strong without the puck. I want to see both of them work on prevent defense and winning puck battles. Gus is currently a defenseman that can only play in offensive situations, I want to see Gus and Boqvist on the ice against the other team's top players, do some penalty killing and be an option in the last minutes to hold a lead.

There seem to be some rule differences for players coming from college and especially after their senior season. Sikura completed his college career and signed the 2-year "college senior" ELC and had the first year of his ELC knocked off by playing 5 games with the Hawks at the end of the 2017/18 season.

All else being equal it likely would have come down to Shaw or Dzingel, there's isn;t enough cap space for both. Plus, I don't think Stan wants to tie up too much salary cap space going forward, he wouldn't sign both Shaw and Dzingel is it jeopardized the team's chances of being able to re-sign both DeBrincat at Strome.

I knew your basic gist, I don't know the nuances either, just trying to pick your brain if you did. I don't think Hillman & Hayden played more than Sikura to eat up their first year either.

It's a fair deal and a fair term. Not a home-run signing but a solid move nonetheless. I am happy with Stan's off season plan so far, he's addressed the specific needs of the team and has not put the team in any long-term cap stress. While Stan has improved the team there are several players without any type of NTC that can be moved if needed, that's a big difference compared to previous years.

Strome has remained in Chicago this offseason and has been participating in the Blackhawks’ strength and conditioning program and working on the ice with Prodigy Hockey’s Brian Keane. DeBrincat is in Chicago again this offseason as well.

“It was a combination of things,” Strome’s agent Mark Guy said of the decision to remain in Chicago. “It was something the team recommended just based on the success that DeBrincat had the year before, and it was also Dylan feels very comfortable there. He likes the setup there, he likes the people he was going to be working with, and the fact that Alex is going to be there doing it again and a few of the other players made sense for him to stay.”


Keane’s clients this summer include Toews, Kane, Strome, DeBrincat, Saad and Murphy.

I'll be interested to see if the scoring keeps pace with last year considering all the new faces.

Quite a number also getting on the ice to occasionally play some semi-serious games against other pros (current and past). If you're in Chicago, the games are only $5 per ticket and you can stand at the glass or sit in the stands. When it's a hot day, it's a perfect respite.

Kendall is still playing with the boys this year and is on Kane’s team again. We saw them play last year and it’s a lot of fun. Kane did not come that night, but Kendall held her own with the boys just fine, and we got to see DeBrincat, Dzingel, etc. too.

I'm glad he's in Chicago and not in Detroit.

Very interesting to see Saad’s name on that list. Maybe he got sick of hearing the same criticisms as Toews (not playing up to contract, etc) and decided to go the same route.
