I agree that the Meier deal is good, but I think the loss of Pavelski and decline of Thornton will hurt this team more than people realize.

Their goaltending is still bad, their D is incredible (and they're paying for it), and they have limited center depth now...

I think Arizona did far better than the Sharks - SJ got worse.

So a Sharks team that historically doesn't get it done had a great offseason because they kept it together (for the most part)? Remember, if not for a complete collapse by Vegas, the Sharks were heading for a first round exit... again.

And let's not bring up their goaltending (or lack thereof).

When are all of you guys going to see the Sharks for what they are? Fool's gold.

That’s what I was thinking. They kept the same team (actually lost some crucial players in Pavelski and Donskoi) that has been consistently losing for the last 5 years. Nashville, Colorado, and Dallas have gotten much better. If Vegas can sign Gusev and cut some dead weight they’ll be better. Hawks will be looking to bounce back. Blues haven’t changed and they could actually get better with the right move. Sharks definitely need something new whether it’s a coaching change or add a couple solid depth players

Don’t care what the sharks added or lost or retained. They did nothing to solidify the goaltending.

It's crazy that no one even mentions the Canucks. No one else in the Pacific brought in a 6 forward and a top 4 defenceman and didn't lose anyone that mattered. With how weak the Pacific is, they're a legitimate threat for one of the top three spots next year. Arizona is the obvious pick for the second-best offseason. San Jose is a ridiculous pick considering they undeniably got worse by losing Pavelski and not bringing in anyone else. Good for them, they resigned some decent supporting pieces. So did everyone else.
