It's not like free agents are rushing to sign here in the first place, desperate measures to improve the roster immediately since MB leash is getting shorter every season the Habs misses the playoffs.

I would say it's not embarrassing as they did sign someone to an offer sheet but we all have our opinions.

how would the Leafs be handcuffed if Marner leaves? By letting him go, they would literally have 12-13 million in cap space and 4 first rounders, with another good chunk of players on expiring contracts (4.5 mil from Ceci, etc)

Leafs would be handcuffed with 20 million in space and 4 first rounders next summer. The horror!

The only handcuff scenario happens only if Marner does, sign.

Nice to read you again Brandon! I dont think MB will offer sheet someone else though...and to be honest, Laine would be really hard to pry from the Jets with a trade I think...could cost us some great prospects... then again, perhaps this is why we now have that many centres inked..
