Only if the offer sheet is advertised in the media which I wonder about, then the possibility of a deal under the treat can be made to come up with a Hockey Deal. Maybe.. but I see Marner and Aho as relatively comparable. One is an elite Center in the making the other an elite winger in the making. This tells me that Leafs were completely justified in proposing $8-10M. I think Marner and Leafs look at this and settle on $9.5-$10M aav for 5yrs

Crazy how small the offer actually is. It is less than a $6m difference in the two first years of the deal. It is less money than Carolina was already offering.

The bonus thing is weird. I assume the owner infuses some cash into the team through a shareholder loan at X% and when everything is added up, he probably makes money off the offer sheet.

No he doesn't. I don't think he has ever had 50 points in a season, 7.14.

Could be a terrible decision for Bergevin. Can't see that number being even remotely high enough for the Canes to think twice about matching.

So a pointless offer sheet that risks the GM being blackballed around the league. Probably not wise.

So the canes can match in the last minute but in the meantime the habs have to leave that money tied up which means being stuck for a week
