How would TJ Brodie fit into the Devil's defensive corps? Pretty well, I figure. |

Anyone know what number Jack Hughes will be wearing? Pretty sure Andy Greene isn't giving up his 6 for the kid. |

Todd Cordell: Where do the New Jersey Devils go from here? - Todd.Cordell
As I always write, we need a RW. With Hall and Nico likely to combine for around 19M next season, I feel a cheap, fast, consistent righty is ideal. Donskoi could be a perfect fit, allowing Palms to bring scoring balance to the 2nd line. He won't cost too much, and has few lapses in his game.
Shero gets an A, and the only way he could have done any better this past week would have been if we landed Marleau and a 1st rounder. Leafs haven't even won a playoff round and are being cap crunched like they've won the cup. |

Replying to the Brodie comment here how do you figure he would be a need ? To me he would just be more of what we already have in Vatanen, Severson and Butcher. |

Oil90 dropped this little gem yesterday in the "Who won draft weekend" post: "Subban overpaid and on the decline and protected by Nashville fine defence, devils still can't play defence and subban doesn't help that. Giving up four pieces when everyone else expected Nashville to eat salary on subban is also a missed point." |

Im a little curious as to why there is so much hype to Donskoi?
We have multiple players already who can potentially or are already hitting 30 pts if we are going for a RW why not a guy you are much more certain can get you 50 to 60 pts ? Plus we only have two possible wingers capable of scoring 30 goals and one of them isnt even a sniper.
With all the guys coming in that are capable of making plays it would be nice if we had any finishers.
In short to me adding a player thats a 15 g 35 pt player is just adding more clutter to the offense.

Todd Cordell: Where do the New Jersey Devils go from here? - Todd.Cordell
Todd I was curious for you opinion specifically on something I saw a different poster on this site post.
It was basically a link to graphs about giving a point worth to picks to gauge there value and this poster claimed that the total point value of the picks and prospects we gave up was higher a price or worth then what the nucks paid for Miller.
I love the Subban trade so I could care less if this is the case but what are youre thoughts on this and is there much to put into valueing the pts given up?

Imagine the impact Subban will have in the black neighborhood that is Newark. He'll bring so many new fans from across the river and in Newark. |

He says 6 is the family number so I wonder if he circles back to that as its not being retired for Greene lol. |

Hey Todd,
Always a good read for Devils news and insights. The forward assessment makes a ton of sense as does the defense. However, are the tea leaves not really saying what Shero might do on defense? The P.K. pickup is amazing on many levels, but we definitely need to do something on the blue line. Even with the D corps improved, I do not see it as being up to snuff. Any injuries which are guaranteed, no team goes without injuries, the Devils need another solid piece back there. |

Those 30 pts guys we have can’t play up if there are injuries. Apparently this Donskoi guy can. |

Donskoi or Nyqvist, either way I'd be happy. |
