You never know how things will actually play out but every Devils fan has to be happy. Seemed everyone at the draft party wanted Hughes and not Kakko.
PK has some issues but for a team desperate for a top pair defender it is a great move. Would have liked to land Trouba but the Rangers are working hard to reload also. |

Subban overpaid and on the decline and protected by Nashville fine defence, devils still can't play defence and subban doesn't help that. Giving up four pieces when everyone else expected Nashville to eat salary on subban is also a missed point. |

Yea, 25yr old Trouba would've been ideal to keep through his prime. With PK, at least we have him in his prime, cap isn't an issue, and when he's 33 we can see where we're at in terms of cap and his play. Hopefully by then, Smith exceeds our wildest dreams and can be like a Duncan Keith. That's what I think of when I think of him.. based on the minimal play I've seen.
Not that there's all that much to choose from, but Nyqvist would be top of my list.. though I really wouldn't want to give him more than 6mil/4yrs. Dzingle would be #2 on the UFA list and would come cheaper, but meh. Panarin would simply cost too much to do long-term, with Hall, Hughes and Hischier destined to get big money deals.
I think Nyqvist's experience and still having some jump would be ideal with Hughes and Bratt or Palmieri. |

Definitely not the blackhawks unfortunately. Blowman is the worst GM in the league. Funny I was driving in Arlington Heights Illinois and some one had an Illinois blackhawks license plate.... it read.....

I know. (frank)ing amazing Shero still has a job. All these poopty moves like getting Hall, Vats, P.K. and two 1OA centers and totally missing the boat by taking a skinny poop like Nico over Patrick. Just horrible.
I won’t even get into the insanity of the parade of worthless picks he’s gotten for top end NHL talent like Ben Lovejoy, Brian Boyle, big Vern Fiddler or Lee Stempniak.
I intend to send him a strongly worded letter demanding his resignation.
Thank you for you guidance. You are like a oil light in the dark. Oil.... get it.

Jersey’s looking good. Picked up P.K. for nothing. You could kinda argue that they’ve been fortunate and unfortunate at the same time, as it pertains to the draft. Obviously, lacking into two first overall picks is massive. But the lack of a generational talent in either draft kinda sucks. Hughes and Hischier are both decent players, but definitely on the lower end of first overall picks. Luck of the draw - sometimes there’s a McDavid or a Matthews available, and sometimes there’s a Hughes or RNH |

You raise an interesting question as to how Nico and Jack compare to other first overall picks. For every Matthews and McDavid there is a horrible bust or two.

Nico is still just 20. Jack turned 18 last month.

I'm not saying Hughes is generational. Because he hasn't proven anything yet. But Matthew's hasn't proven anything to say he's generational either. I would agree Mcdavid is generational!! |

If Hughes is like Matthews I think we would all take that right now, the kid is a beast and will only get better. I'm hoping Hughes becomes that. |

I’d be thrilled if Hughes ends up like Matthews. I mean Jack is a smaller kid so physically they’re going to be different. But production wise that would be great.
I can’t get a good read on how Scouts compare Jack to other recent first overall picks. |

I can't tell if Tanner is trolling or he genuinely thinks that the Devils came in 3rd for best draft of 2019....
I'm ok with Tampa being first, but come on |

Anyone think we have 1 more move to make for another high scoring forward or are we set and letting the likes of Hall, Palms,Zajac,Bratt,Wood,Coleman and Boqvist work with Hughes and Nico and knowing Subban himself opens alot more scoring from the point...Know it would not be a Panarin type but someone in a second tier FA level |
