I guess the Jets are going to do what they always do at the draft - nothing. Peter you got me excited and I feel majorly let down.

Still early but right now the Jets who struggled on defense last year currently have
Poolman, Buff, Morrissey, Niku, Kulikov, Pionk on the depth chart. That defense belongs on a team missing the playoffs not hoisting the stanley cup.

And might this lead us to a major deal that includes everyone not named Ehlers. Scheifele, Wheeler, Connor, Lowry, Appleton, Roslovic, Vesalainen, Morrissey, Niku and Hellebuck?

We don't want to loose Buff, but two years left on contract I believe, see Trouba.

Pionk two years ago looked like a solid top 4 dman with offensive talent. Last year looked like a #7. Hope he turns it around. Fun to watch

X2.....

Some good picks to add to the stockpile. Not bad for only 5 picks. No shock and awe tho........

Thanks for this hopeful comment as the Jets need Pionk to be more than a #7 pick. Now will Maurice give Niku and Poolman a chance or are we stuck with Kulikov and Morrow?

Yo, Ultimate, was it you calling for a William Karlsson trade that I then shot down saying he wasn’t much of an improvement?

Karlsson is a massive upgrade over Adam Lowry. There is no way any fan can make the case otherwise.

Since Chevy has a Finnish fetish, he should be trying to sign Donskoi who would be a major upgrade over Taney. While he’s at it, should look at trading Roslovic plus a pick for Ristolainen.

Yeah, no, yep. I looked into it today after the contract, and I totally underrated Karlsson.

Having said that, our center order (with Karlsson) would be: Scheifele>Karlsson>Lowry>Copp>Little

I wouldn’t take Ristolainen with a gun to my head. He’s a 3rd pairing, powerplay guy with a stupid cap hit. You’re just getting Myers again.

There is some logic in drafting Fins. Good history with the Jets, Nordic climate, other fins on the team. They will be comfortable in Winnipeg and may consider it a preferred destination. There are intangible benefits of having confidence from the familiarity of countrymen in town.

He might play better being with his countrymen. Also we should go out and get Vatanen.

A: I doubt it. That’s not really how that works.

A. I think it does, see Kotkaniemi in Montreal. He really wanted Armia. One could argue that Armia made him a better player right out of the gate, much like he did for Laine in Winnipeg.

I think if Ehlers is traded to Montreal as some rumours suggest we should ensure that either Armia or Lekhonen are part of the return. We need more Finns!

B. Do you think Copp or Lowry are enough to get it done?

I am thinking about trades:

To MINN: Bryan Little

To WPG: Mikko Koivu

or

To NSH: Adam Lowry

To WPG: Mikael Granlund

or

To EDM: Jack Roslovic

To WPG: Jessie Pulijarvi

Just some random thoughts....

Haven't you learned yet Ultimate. The Jets don't trade players until they are forced to.

A: Ehlers and Laine are the new bromance. If you trade my American best friend for some random Canadian guy I don’t know, I’m not gonna be excited.

B: I keep both, and send Roslovic and a pick. Don’t weaken a position of weakness to address another position of weakness
