Wow! Three new blogs in three consecutive days!
Great work Peter! |

I'd love to see the Jets offer sheet Timo Meier. An excellent LW/C and played well with Ehlers in Halifax. It's not Chevy's style though and it opens up a can of worms that might suddenly result in teams doing offer sheets on several Jets players

A red letter day, which I hesitate to jinx, but I'm smiling from ear to ear.

You know our Jets are on 100% of every players no-trade list. We also rank 30-31st in UFA’s choice of destination.
Just facts
Chevy has an incredibly hard job
Yes we can overpay a 3rd or 4th line guy to come here or a bottom pairing D-man but really nobody wants to be here.
The Chevy haters can hate but if he was in NY, BOS, LA, Chic etc his options are endless.
Tonight I’d like to see a D-man with the 20th pick and in free agency or trade is like to get a little meaner. We have size all over with no grit and you still need it. |

Somebody has to finish last. Outside of a couple of players, once they get here seem to really enjoy it. Every team is operating under the same salary constraints. The day players start choosing the KHL or other leagues with less pay over Winnipeg will I truly believe that the job is as difficult as it has been suggested. |

Has nothing to do with liking it here. Players do like it here, I love it here!
We just won’t ever attract top level free agents. Yes wining makes a difference, win a cup or contend can push the needle a little

Kulikov and Mason were considered to be near the top of the class during their FA years. |

Is Lee Stempniak on your list of great free agent signings?
By the way Jets gave Kulikov a 3rd year which only one other team was willing to do. |

Talking about free agents not wanting to come here is like saying it’s cold in the winter. We deal with it. No excuses. |

Not sure what RFAs’s would actually sign an offer sheet from us but I’d offer sheet Aho or Point over Meir. Just me

If Maurice was answering questions, why don't the media ask the hard ones?
Like why did your team play like garbage for the second half of the season?
Why didn't you break up Wheeler and Scheifele?
What do you see that nobody else does by keeping Little and Laine together?
What happened to your PK?

How many teams have won the Cup because of big free agent signings they made? It is not the most common path to winning. |

Probably because these should have been asked at the end of year media availability, not during the coach's media availability regarding the rule changes. |

Yes they were. Kulikov was the best left side d-man available and Mason was the best goalie available that year. Kulikov was given that contract in part due to Scheifle and Wheeler really wanting him here. They were training with him at the Adam Oates school in Florida.
And, Lee Stempniak is a player we traded for.
Only one player of significance has ever left Winnipeg through free agency and that was Frolik. |

What about Perreault? Been here more than 6 years? Or did we trade for him? Can't remember. Whatever, Matt was a good move, but the time has run out, cap wise.
See Aho has turned down a $6M per year long term offer in Carolina, which is not surprising. Maybe Laine for Aho? Two ex-team-mates! |

I prefer to see something more like Laine for pesce/Hamilton and a 1st. |
