In response to Ultimate’s last comment on the previous post:

Every single player on the team saw a massive regression last season.
The only two exceptions to this were Nikolaj Ehlers and Tyler Myers.

On a team of young and developing players (Laine, Roslovic, Connor, etc.), established stars (Scheifele, Trouba, Hellebuyck, Morrissey) and veterans we desperately need to stave off the aging curve (Wheeler, Byfuglien, Little, Wheeler again)... its a really, really bad sign that EVERYONE moved backwards.

I would do Lowry for Kadri in a heartbeat!

Ehlers to Phi, hopefully it's either Ghost and the 11th or for Provorov straight up.

I am also a huge fan of Barrie's offensive game.

If people want Wheeler gone too than what the hay, we need a culture change get rid of him too.

1: ... maybe
2: no, not worth it for Ghost. Provorov has also not shown any improvement anywhere since he was a rookie, and may actually be worse now.
3: Roslovic+ for Barrie
4: Wheeler for everything some stupid team is willing to part with

Is resigning Myers out of the question? and getting a good LD for Ehlers?

Either of these things on their own would be incredibly bad.
Both is disastrous, and unrecoverable

List me as one of those that doesn't want to see Ehlers go. Most NHL players have their best years from 23-26 and Ehlers is right in that bracket.

Does defence really win Cups ? Take a look at the last 6 years of winners and I'd say it was all teams with excellent depth at forward. St. Louis was a perfect example of this.

That all being said, Perreault is the one that needs to be traded. I was a fan in the past but his last season and a half have been severely lacking. He also takes a lot of dumb penalties. Sure the effort is there but not much else. Sell him while he still has value because another year like this past season and he will be worthless. Package him off with Kulikov. Both players are overpaid.

Time to get excited about the 20th pick and forget about Trouba !

Yea, you're bang on IMO. Ehlers an exciting player just nearing his prime with a great contract, brings fans to their feet, and we're going to trade him? Doesn't make any sense to me.

Perreault has been a valuable member of the Jets but the time to go is now with the young studs we have ready to take his place - and free up some cap space.

Some trade chips on the team - Perreault, Kulikov, Beaulieu, Pionk, Comrie, Virtanen, Gustafsson (?) and perhaps the rights to Samberg if he is being difficult to sign, which may not be true.

Anyways, certainly not in favour of trading Nikky! Like you say forget Trouba, be excited about our draft pick.

I hope the Jets keep Ehlers as they won't get equal value in any trade. If they can trade Little, Perreault, Kulikov, Copp, Morrow and Dano do it. Move on from Tanev and most of the other UFA if they want too much. Its time to play their NHL ready draft and develop players. If Maurice won't play them then fire him. The Jets don't need two checking lines of average players while they keep young, skilled, fast players on the Moose or in the press box.

Outside of Copp, no one really wants those players. You have to trade value to get value.

I can see the Jets perspective on trading Ehlers. He was ineffective at getting Laine the puck. It is also clear that coach Maurice does not trust Laine with Schiefele and Wheeler. Essentially if Ehlers was better at getting Laine the puck, this discussion of trading him would not be occurring.

I also say we offer sheet Marner or Meier. Both teams will not have the opportunity to compete with the Jets on a contract offer.

Simply put - I want the cake and eat it, too ... I want the cow and the milk ... etc

I would just plain hate to see Lowry and/or Ehlers leave the Jets ... especially with their contracts ... please - NO !

And then - I do want our roster to improve - NOW

I am old & wise enough to know "ya can't have it both ways"

Workin this morning, golfin this aft, PVRing the draft and not checking texts ... I am throwing myself to the whims and desires of our beloved GM

Cheers, boys !

One more interesting note:

Tanev received 1 fifth place vote for the Selke.

Lowry again received 0 votes for the Selke.

I don’t hate Wheeler at all! I love Wheeler.

I’m worried about Wheeler and his contract due to his age, and his across the board drop in everything last season. Pair his decline with the now rampant rumours that he may actually be the problem in the room, and you have me quietly panicking
