Let's do some idealizing
Klefbom, Puljujarvi and a cond. 5th for Ehlers, Copp and the rights to Tanev
#8, a 2020 4th and Gagner for #19, #32 and Pageau
Our 2020 1st, 2019 3rd and Russell for Zucker and Pateryn
Draisailt- McDavid- Kassian
Zucker- RNH- Ehlers
Tanev- Copp- Khaira
Gambo- Pageau- Currie
Lucic, Cave
Nurse- Pateryn
Sekera- Larsson
_____- Benning
Tomasino @ #19
If cap space is needed, Pageau is easier to move than Gagner and we can still try to weasel our way out of Lucic with ye olde dual-retention strategy. |

I'll restate from earlier: "In general, there seems to be evidence that shows that the abused are known to cling to their abusers for a variety of reasons and that- just because they're still together- doesn't mean that the relationship isn't still abusive."
Once again, not a definitive stance or statement, but I've said all I can with the information available to me. I would do my due diligence before even considering acquiring him and then, before following through, I would involve Connor and perhaps the whole locker room to get a grasp on how they'd feel about it.
If those within the locker room would take issue with it, I wouldn't pursue it. If they wouldn't, I'd cautiously pursue the possibility. - MaximumBone
I edited my post prior to your response. Sorry for my slow ass editing skills.
The edited phrase from my previous post:
"As for your question, well, his wife is still married to him, so I guess that he'll still stick around too, but we won't know whether it'll be abusive or non-abusive cohesion. "
Nonetheless, your last two paragraphs are what I would do too. If they're alright with it, I move forward with the deal. If not, well, that's a different story. |

I could see Edmonton packaging JP to NYR.
Would love me some Kreider in exchange. |

Lol at the random 2020 4th just thrown in there for the second deal.
I like the first deal though.
Why do you have Kassian so high up in the lineup btw? |

I wouldn't call it random. It's there to balance the difference in value between Gagner and Pageau. #8 for #19 and #32 comes out pretty much dead-on in pick value. Adding Gagner saves Melnyk a couple hundred thousand in actual pay while providing an upgrade for us, so the cost is an additional 4th or something. For clarity, I actually have no issue keeping Gagner on the team. He seems to love being an Oilers, he produced pretty well and he doesn't have issue attacking the high danger areas.
As for Kassian, he's a placeholder and is given the chance to build on his finish to last season. If he can keep up that 40-pt pace from the turn of the calendar, then I have no issue leaving him there. |

Oilers have reportedly tried to acquire Mrazek's rights according to Lebrun. Carolina is still trying to resign him tho. |

I can’t remember who on this thread used to be obsessed with Mrazek coming to the Oilers. Think it was chetmanly. He might finally get his wish. He’s a good goalie that is extremely up and down. Dunno if Holland honestly wants him back after the off ice tension between them a couple seasons ago. |

I think you could still do the deal w/o the 4th is what I'm trying to get at. The cap space saved by the Ottawa does enough to offset the need to add anything else IMO.
As for Kassian, I see your point, but I have my doubts.
Also, I finally had a chance to watch the Bill Burr segment you linked. That's some good quality content. |

I did, but I have my doubts on just rolling with good production from a player from the end of the season.
If he falls back in pace, that leaves us exposed in terms of our options when it comes to our top 6. |

You accidentally clicked the img button and if you delete it, it’ll add the end code to it without you asking it to. |
