Philly did SJ a huge solid. They pick up an overpaid depth guy and give a 2nd and 3rd for him. Looks like they'l get their RFAs signed after all.

I actually quite like Braun. It's a move they had to make but it's not lopsided

Bob McKenzie reported that a lot of teams offered significantly more in their packages but the Jets still opted to go with the Rangers instead.

I say meh and oh well. Trouba would've been nice but it's not like the Devils missed out on the next Niedermayer or Lidstrom. Just move on.

Plus he sounds like another Severson. One Severson is enough.

CBJ has practically no draft picks with 4 D on RFA, maybe we make a pitch for werenski ?

NJ gave a similar package for Mueller, and now Mueller can eat top 4 minutes reliably for at least three more years.

Philly gets one year of this guy on the wrong side of 30, relieves cap space for them, and he put up pretty bad numbers this year.

I mean I hope he's a locker room guy for them if they gave them three assets (the two picks and the cap space) for one year of bad stats.

Missed the boat since they traded larrson away. Defence has never been the same and now they have an often injured hall for only one more year, then he sign with the rangers. Have a good day.

It sounds like Jets fans are glad to be rid of the headache he appears to be, but I agree that the offer they accepted could have easily been surpassed...little bummed, but Shero needs to make a splash with defense *cough* Subban *cough*

NO you draft Hughes over KAKKo every time...

Missed out on TROUBA ..

If you really think NJD are getting SUBBAN you are mistaken he is not coming here.
neither is PANAKIN , Nyquist , Eberle ( done ) .

Ill be shocked if we get any UFA ( not Sheros way )
And the trades and salary we did pick up we trade away....
MOJO , Lovejoy , PJ ,

I unfortunately think this makes HALL walk.....

Butcher and 34 is not a better offer than Poink and 20 in a strong draft class. sorry.

- thechezman

Yes it is Pionk Blows. Sure Winny didn't want a LHD sure but better, nah. Devs woudl've added a 2 (Nsh/Bos)

What does that have to do with anything? Why would the Jets turn down better offers to make Trouba's wife happy?

Trouba had no say over where he was going to play this year.

Unfortunate that we missed out on Trouba, but maybe we weren't willing to take him if he wasn't going to sign a long-term contract. Rangers are taking a gamble for 1 year of Trouba's services (kind of like the Raptors with Leonard).

I know the Devils could've offered a better package starting with the 34th pick in this year's draft, McLeod, Wood, or Zacha, and a conditional 2nd (maybe a defensive prospect not named Smith instead of the conditional 2nd). Maybe Shero didn't want to throw away assets for 1-year of Trouba.

I think the focus now shifts to PK Subban. Shero has a working relationship with Poulin so I don't see a problem getting a deal done. I'm thinking of a package of the 34th pick and Sami Vatanen. Sami will replace PK's spot on the Preds for a year while they're still in "must win now" mode. Perhaps throw in a forward like JQ (who may help Preds powerplay), Speers or Seney.

I don't get why all the hate with PK...personality and hockey-wise. He's a big personality, but he has the passion and competitive fire for the game. He'll be good for the community. The inner city kids of Newark are going to love him.

As for his game, he's won a Norris and named to the NHL First All-Star Team twice (NHL Second All-Star Team once). Is he prone to some defensive errors? Yeah, but who isn't. And yeah, he showboats but he can back it up. Name me the last Devils defenseman who can bring 60 plus points to the team from the backend. He also hits (see his hit on Brad Marchand).

Ray Shero, makes the trade for Subban. And while you're at it, trade the Devils 5th for the rights to talk to Gustav Nyquist early. If Nyquist wants 6 years for $36 mil, do it.

He was only resigning with Redwings or Rangers. Teams were not giving up a ton for one year of Trouba. That is why

it's just literally not true. Other teams had bigger deals in place.

Right, and those teams were not giving up more to have him for one year. Who ever traded for him needed to know he was committing to multiple years

Agreed. If Winni was turning down better offers, there was something else going behind the scenes

The Trouba deal is probably the 4th or 5th time I have seen a trade/signing happen during the Shero era and said to myself, "That's all it took? How are they not getting in on these moves?"

That being said, every player in the league is on the table for the right price, not just the names that are batted around in the media. It has been made abundantly clear to management that they need to make something happen this summer, and while this one hurts to miss out on (WPG gave the guy away for nickles on the dollar), you have to think Ray is up to something that will leave them better off in October then they were in April.

Thats why I mentioned Werenski up above. Give CBJ all our 2nd rounders and its a done deal.
