No. Hawks will stay away from him. Byram, Turcotte or Cozens will be the pick. |

While Podkolzin may prove to be the best prospect the Hawks could have picked I don't think the Hawks can take a chance on a guy already signed to a pro contract in the KHL. The more it appears Byram is looking to be the best of the bunch after Hughes and KK, the more I am hoping the Blackhawls select him. |

Blows win the Stanley Cup....The World is coming to an end 🤮🤮🤮 - BGKarras
Well the Cubs won a World Series and it didn't happen. Then the Blues last night of course. Maybe if the Browns or Lions win a SB that will signal the end of the world. |

You just know Blowman will screw it up (with help from McD of course) and pick someone like Caufield. |

The Hawks draft Podkolzin if ... Bo Byram changes his name to Podkolzin. |

I think Byram will be the choice. The Hawks stable of prospect defenseman would then also include Joki, Boqvist, Beaudin, Mitchell, Krys, Gilbert and Carlsson. Of course, not all of them project to be top pair worthy, but I would think eventually that some of them are traded to fill other spots in the Hawks lineup.
My favorite fantasy trade is Beaudin to Montreal, who want young D men, for one of their young centers. Beaudin by himself may not be able to obtain someone like Proehling or Suziki. I hope Stan and Bergevin, who have had a history of trading with each other, can work something out. |

Uncle Dale and Bob Pulford wouldn't screw it up. |

Pass. I dont like his current contract situation. Plus his lack of speaking the English language is a huge hindrance. He is a nice player. Just a better fit with another team |

People underrate players like Toews, Kopitar, Bergeron and ROR and say they are overpaid because they are generally only 55 to 70 point producers. But teammates, coaches and GM appreciate them. They are major factors in teams winning cups. |

I don’t think Podkolzin won’t even make the Blackhawks top five preview list. |

If the Hawks want someone like Pod then they’d be better of taking Boldy. Boldy is sneaky good, just watch highlights of him OFF the puck. His game reminds me of Stone/Hossa, albeit less speed than the ladder.
1. Byram is who I want them to pick.
2. Turcotte is who they will pick.
3. If the Hawks can get another top 12 pick and Boldy is available then you draft him.

Great piece, TC. I say no, however, to Pods. |

The darkhorse in the latter part of the first round for me is Alex Newhook. It's reported he has Outstanding speed, a good shot, he is a dogged forechecker and he's a very smart player but he's playing in the BCHL a minor Jr. A team in B.C so he doesn't lose his College eligibility and it's hard to see how good he really is playing against lesser competition. If the Hawks can get an additional first round pick I'd like to see Newhook's name called. |

Great post! Team's need all kinds of different skills but give me any of the above to start a team. |

I would love to take Byram and not complain.whether he becomes a #1 pair. However i tend to agree they take Turcotte more likely than Cozens.. Pehaps if Saad is already on Bowman's trade list, instead might Cozens be choosen? Contingency plans could be numerousAnd either Boldy or Broberg if they see' D Keith in him? Well if a forward goes #3 then Broberg could make sense shoild Keith move. Or a goaltender? |

I was worried the Leafs would be that team but as usual they have managed to mess things up and now fine themselves in cap hell with players to sign and one NHL defenseman on the roster. |
