for what, he had a great season

30 goals

he is who he is, and any expectations above what he did this season is crazy

- homiedclown

https://www.fearthefin.co...evander-kane-penalty-king

Led the NHL in penalties, disappeared in the playoffs. Got a lot of ice time and produced like a 2nd line LW

He is who is he is for sure, but not someone you pay 50 mil for 7 years

Which is why it was better to walk away from a 7 x 7 deal than tie yourself up to it. That's his ceiling. He's not going to hit it many times after this season. It's a deal San Jose will want to get out from under before the contract is half over.

he more then wanted to keep kane, wanted to put an A on his jersey

a lot less leaks out with botts as gm, vs murray or darcy

- homiedclown

Less leaks are a good thing.

- jcragcrumple

he was 9th in goal scoring for left wingers

this assumption that he is a second liner is just not true

and he didn't disappear in the playoffs, the whole line got shut down

I'm more than fine with Botterill walking away from 7x7 and getting Montour at the same time

We might be, but Skinner is a better goal scorer than Kane is. He always was, and always will be unless he has a career ending injury, in which case IR takes care of his salary and cap space.

That's all fine, but he did lead the league in penalties, and 2 goals and 6 assists in the playoffs definitely qualifies as disappearing. He's a very nice complimentary player, but is no where near worth having that bad contract

7 mil is not a bad contract for a 30 goal scorer

it's the market

it's 2019, not 2009

My buddy who is a bruins fan / lives in Boston mentioned that Bergeron has had a knee injury the entire playoffs and that a lot of bruins are banged up.

Wait till the injury list comes back and can confirm he was telling the truth.

He did well on that trade regardless imo.

It's the same thing as the ROR trade. Even if you accept that the Pegulas made him trade ROR (I don't), Botterill didn't have to take the players he did. Anecdotal evidence from the time suggests that MTL and the Yotes both put in offers, which makes me believe there could have been other teams as well. He clearly overvalued Berglund and Thompson.

He made a poop deal. I know people want to blame the Pegulas, but he made a bad deal by choosing the team and the players he received, regardless of whether he was told to trade ROR. That's it

You sure are confident for someone that doesn’t seem to be ever right. How do you know that? Like I said in a prior post you were saying a month ago that St. Louis was a waste of a playoff spot. Now you’re saying ROR was the last piece to the puzzle? So you more or less are saying they had everything they needed minus ROR but a month ago they were better off tanking? At any point do you think that maybe it’s time to admit that you were and continue to be wrong about everything?
