My response was more in regards to Wiz actually putting BB third overall. Not to speak for Wiz, but to me it appears that he's place the likes of Turcotte and others ahead of BB (but not CC for some reason).

We're all entitled to our own opinions, unless you think the Hawks shouldn't draft Cole Caufield, then you're just wrong.

As a Hawks fan living in Vancouver (and Toronto before that), I am accustomed to going against the grain.

I just noticed Wiz bumped Turcotte to 7.

Funny as I wanted Cozens at 3 but now I want Turcotte.

I have said this before, but this site really needs a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" icon above each post. Then people can click an icon to indicate their agreement or disagreement with particular posts. Then it would have a counter that indicates the net of the clicks. In keeping with the hockey theme you can call it the Hockey Buzz "plus/minus" stat. A post with a "+10" stat is much more highly thought of than a post with a "-17" stat. It also would reduce the amount of repeat posts.

Actually it was in the Athletics article that compared Caufield to Ovi. Hughes was compared to McDavid and Byram compared to Doughty

Haven't read past your post, wonder how you feel about this article?........... I'd imagine I'm in the minority but is a Goodman gonna change the arm angle on a pitcher, move a batters hands down/up/back, rework a QB's footwork, change a Podkolzin's stride?

What do you think Greg "The Bull" Luzinski's, Cecil Fielder's or John Kruk's vertical leap would tell a Goodman?

You know why Crow got little recognition until he won some cups? Cuz the guy stabbed at pucks, was off his angle constantly, pulled himself out of the crease to stab at pucks going 2 feet wide of the net, was often off balance. ....... Science and film says this guy ain't gonna be consistent until he shows you he is and subsequently was.

No, gimme 1 Charlie Lau or 1 Darryl Belfry over 100 Goodman's. Mechanics being changed or modified will make a 20 home run guy a 30 home run guy, a 10 game winner into a 20 game winner, a 20 goal scorer into a 30 goal scorer not whether or not an 18 yr old ends up 6ft 3in or 6ft 1in.

Sure gimme a Goodman to construct a diet work out regime for my athletes but keep him away from any draft decisions.

- Mr Ricochet

He’s just one piece of the puzzle providing input nothing more. But it’d be silly to put a whole puzzle together and leave one piece out!

“We’re looking for the projection,” said general manager Stan Bowman, who makes the ultimate call on the pick. “Where do you see this guy in a few years, if you spend time working with him? What potential do you see? Do you see a guy who can be an elite athlete, or do you see a guy who could become a decent athlete but doesn’t have the genetics of the physical gifts to be an elite athlete?”

It's easy to switch between prospect, especially in this draft. Except for me, I have not wavered in in my stance.

Not saying you're right on this possibility but hell yea expect surprises in he draft. Nothing is certain with prospects other than McDavid's and Crosby's so organIzations trust their scouts and that has nothing to do with any prognosticator any of us reads.......... As great as Kakko is he's a winger.

When it comes to franchise centers or #1 Dmen franchises will do most anything to acquire them. That's why I think Detroilet who is barren on the blueline will move heaven and earth if they feel Byram is that franchise Dman.

Again, the Hockey Gods blessed the Hawks with the #3 overall and if that wasn't enough the consensus top Dman ran wild thru the WHL playoffs. If the Hawks do not have Byram ranked as a franchise Dman the Hawks hit the lottery twice if they're looking to leverage their pick.

- Mr Ricochet

This. Stan should try and trade with them. I’d offer Beaudin and Forsling for Joe Veleno.

Sucks to lose Beau, but then Veleno is a high upside prospect that allows Stan to draft Byram at #3.

Wow that some high praise .I like Cozens or Dach would not be upset with Byram also . Also like Boldy as a out of the box pick . Stay away from Turcotte [please .

I wonder if Chicago ran the Byram story to try to get some Leverage. Imagine if Colorado or Los Angeles wants Byram so bad they would deal 2 1st round picks to move up.

#3 for both Colorado picks and David Putney

I don't think they ran the story for that reason. They are just doing a story on each of the 5 more likely selections. It could be that teams will offer for the 3rd pick, but an actual trade down from there is a bit rare.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Rangers take Byram. Personally I don’t think Kakko impressed during the worlds. In fact he sort of disappeared off the score sheet after the first game.
- gifman

I hope not I really do like Byram. Personally it's a Win..Win Situation we will draft a very good player/prospect with the 3rd overall selection. Just think of all the teams that would like to be in our position for this draft not including NJ and NY of course.

Turcotte. Or anyone but that floater Cozens.

Pick is between Turcotte and Byram. Fine with either. Like Dach and Zegras, too. I would even take Boldy or the Russian before Cozens.

barge. Take them with a barge of salt. The comp are for style of play. Not a direct comparison.

That signing would make as much sense as the Manning signing. They have a version of Gardiner in Gus. Except Gus isn't afraid of physical contact..

Actually wouldn’t mind the Gardiner signing, I think his defensive liabilities are overblown a bit, before last year he wasn’t really getting much heat for his defense, it wasn’t too long ago you could say he was a very good defenseman, I think his partner Nikita whatever his name is had some part in his lapses....I think it’ll be an upgrade over gus, and then trade gus while his value is where it is.....those are the smart moves Stan should be making, get Gardiner for cash and upgrade at another position with a valuable asset that’s at its peak

Wouldn’t go 7 years but if he would do a 5 or 6 year I think you’ve got a good top 4 d that’ll gel nicely with the youngins when they start coming up

Minn could have him plus he has back issues like murry from Columbus. Hagg from philly and mcnabb from vegas 2 soild d man and physical which will help in the playoffs. Hagg needs workl but is young and mcnabb also pair both with puck moving d man could have solid d core.
