I don't see any mention of Slater KK in your mock trades. Some NHL teams would like his size and particularly his contract going into a new season.
- RickJ

Hey Rick - I didn't include Koekkoek as I have been looking into it and it sounds like the earlier signing is a testament to the Blackhawks seeing him in their plans moving forward.

Sure, he'll be a 7th defenceman on most nights, but they see something in him and hear he got along real well in with the guys in the room in his shorter stint in Chicago.

Forsling on the other hand. It sounds more "complicated". I would wager that he and his agent are asking for a little more than the Hawks would like to play due to his 122 NHL games of experience + his potential.

We will see how it all shakes out, but I just see Forsling and Dahlstrom more as trade chips than Koekkoek at this point.

Krug does not skate through contact, he clearly goes into glide before making contat which would not constitute a charge. Also, the hits by Sundquist and Barbashev were straight to the head. I really dont see the similarities. The Krug hit is what we want to remain in the game because it is a part of the sport. The Barbashev hit was to the head and Sundquist ran a guys head from behind into the glass.

I don't think Thomas had the puck so at worst it was interference.

Theres going to be some nasty stuff tomorrow night.

The hits from behind have zero place unless a guy at last second turns his back to you, and honestly....some of these hits to the head the guys are leaning down or stumble. Such a fast game where it's hard to judge intent or not.

What truly pisses me off is the crap like Marchand spearing goalies or Chara 2 handing guys religiously.

I can't stand Boston...….so the lesser of 2 evils wins....Go Blues.

I stand firm that it's Jokiharju or bust in a Klefbom deal. Gustafsson doesn't appeal as he's a LD, has a serious likelihood of a significant raise in a year (one that costs more than what trade here saved) and I'm unconvinced by his defensive play.

I think it's a legit possibility that NYR surprises everyone and takes Bowen Byram at #2 . Every year, teams surprise because they know something we don't and they scout harder than the internetz speculate...

TC, thank you for the KK update, this is good news IMO. I liked the guy, willing to hit/engage, excellent wheels, + shot and + passer.

We will see if he's spent time over the summer months working on his skills, strength and positioning -- could be a Blowman dumpster dive find that turns out in the Hawks favor.

Would a 4th and Forsling be an overpay for the possible trade with Columbus? Not enough?

What does it take to get Trouba? What do we have to give up? I see the need for a lefty dman but would take any top four d-man at this point. Thoughts?

I was actually thinking about that. How about:

To the Blackhawks: Jacob Trouba and Brandon Tanev

To Winnipeg: John Hayden, Conner Murphy, Carl Dahlstrom

I'm pretty sure Winnipeg could get a lot better offers than that for Trouba.

What do you think the Blackhawks would have to add?

Maybe work a trade with Columbus where the Hawks get Murray and Wennberg and we send them Anisimov, Mitchell and a 4th or Anisimov and our 2nd and 5th. I think Saad and Wennberg played pretty well together a couple years ago and a Saad-Wennberg-Kubalik 3rd line coud be a solid 3rd line with good speed.

Other than the #3 pick, which they shouldn't trade for him, I'm not sure the Hawks what it would take to acquire Trouba from Winnipeg, at least not what the Hawks would be willing to give up.

I agree with your take on KK - he still has the potential to be a solid 5-6 guy.

I have said this before, but this site really needs a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" icon above each post. Then people can click an icon to indicate their agreement or disagreement with particular posts. Then it would have a counter that indicates the net of the clicks. In keeping with the hockey theme you can call it the Hockey Buzz "plus/minus" stat. A post with a "+10" stat is much more highly thought of than a post with a "-17" stat. It also would reduce the amount of repeat posts.

Tanev is a UFA, why trade for him unless you are assured he will sign?

truoba wants to got UFA so a deal around Murpghy for trouba would make sense. Murph is a #4 and trouba #2 but he will be paid double and murphy has 3 more years at 3.85 Mil so he has some value considering what contracts will look like this summer.

would you trade for trouba and give him 60 mil over 8 years? 7.5 per year? hawks would not take him for a rental I do not think.

That’s the only way you do trade for him.

I would be OK with this.... rolling the dice on Wennberg as a younger/faster 3C to AA at about the same cost. Wish his faceoff % was better....but like the idea.

I would not, if you envision Joki, Bovquist, Mitchell ,seabs being your right side defenseman in 3 years, excludes Gus, Murphy, Carlsson, etc.
