You're right, he's not worth it. Pass. - Bean_Dip

When was Stepan soft? He was slow not soft. He played with a broken jaw like Chara, and his dyck is still being sucked for it. Stepan was never once soft here - Slimtj100
I watched numerous games where a teammate would be getting jumped and he would just stand there. Every once in a while he would reach his arm out and act like he was helping. Not my type of player. |

Well I’ll go with playing with a broken jaw. I know you never liked him so I’m not gonna convince you otherwise |

I’m not saying you have to fight to be tough, just stand up for your teammates. Jump into the mix when it’s a 2 on 1 or a big scrum. I don’t remember Stepan ever doing that and it used to drive me nuts. |

Fair enough, just don't see Rangers trading out of #2 and they will happily take Hughes if Devils do the unexpected and pass on him. If Rangers turn out to be wrong with Hughes, just remember, EVERYBODY was wrong ( except you ).
As far as the rough stuff, maybe Fenir will comment.... - TommyGTrain

I like the sound of this

. Gorton said he intends to check in with Chris Kreider’s agent, Matt Keator, before the club’s management contingent heads to Vancouver early next week. Kreider, of course, has one year remaining on his contract before he is eligible to become a free agent in, appropriately enough, 2020.
I wouldn’t rule out Kreider being traded at the draft.

We have the cap space, wouldn't surprise me. I also don't see Kreider being dealt or Hayes returning. - Fenrir
The article says Kreider won’t be a deadline trade so we’ll know this summer what’s the plan with Kreider. I just have a hunch the direction they go is to trade him at the draft and sign Panarin. Seems the most likely scenario imo. If they don’t get him I could see him extended, like it’s one or the other |

No buy outs this year, use some of our draft picks in creative ways to create cap space.
For example: Trade Shatty ( 25% retained) plus Tampas' 2nd rounder to a team like
Columbus in return for Blue Jackets 4th rounder next year and the rights
to Adam McQuaid
Columbus desperately needs high picks and has the cap space to absorb Shatty at $5 million. We clear roster spot for one of our youngsters and Shatty only costs us $1.6 million for next 2 seasons ------ way cheaper than a buy out. McQuaid is simply a throw-in to pass sniff test from NHL office.
It hurts to trade #58 pick, but gets us out of the Shatty mistake. Cut bait and move forward. Adding another pick for next years draft helps us in future.

They couldn’t get someone to take Shattenkirk and they were willing to retain 50%. He’s a bum. I’m not even sure giving someone a 2nd for a 4th will move the needle on him. |

I don’t doubt they offered to keep 50%, he’s just terrible. |

It’s crazy how Shattenkirk got a 1st and prospect as a rental 2 years ago, now we can’t even get someone to take him retaining 50% of his salary. |
