Just go full rebuild already Can get quite a few assets with the pieces and add to the already nice potential of the young core. |

Don't think "full rebuild" is in the current regime's vocabulary. Not happening.
More like... "re-tool on the fly". |

Top defensive prospect as a trade candidate?
We are drafting Byram |
|
|
|
Moving Anisimov, Saad and Keith will free up 16M in cap space but will create 3 more holes on the roster (in addition to the current need of a veteran top 4 D and a couple of bottom six defensive minded forwards).
Anisimov will only return a 3rd round 2020 draft choice or B level prospect. No immediate help there.
Saad + an asset for someone like Carolina's Pesce?
Keith to Florida to reunite with Q for ????
Hopefully use some of that cap space for to sign a couple of Brandon Tanev and Ben Chiarot types.

I wonder what it would cost to acquire Johnsson from Toronto. Maybe Forsling rights, Hayden, and a 3rd/4th rounder? He would cost under $4mil AAV and could play with Toews and Kane on the 1st line.
AA to Ottawa for a 3rd, I would do that in a heartbeat.
I would see what Vegas would want in a package for Eakin and McNabb. If the Hawks draft Byram, I think they can use Krys or Mitchell in a trade package with Perlini or Sikura.....
Sikura + Krys + 4th/5th to Vegas for Eakin and McNabb?
Just spit-ballin here. Should be an exciting off-season, first time in a long time we'll be busy in the trade front and free agency. |

I just mentioned Keith since he was mentioned in Tyler's write up. I wonder if he has had discussions regarding waiving his NMC.
Keith to Toronto for Kadri? Kadri will fit in now that Marc Crawford is on the coaching staff.
Edit - Toronto will probably have to sweeten that deal to help them out of their cap problem. |

keith and saad would be moved in pure hockey trades so even though you make a good point about creating holes I would think the holes will be filled in those trades and assets coming back. Don't see keith be moved unless he wants to be traded saad I could see for d help but would have to fill that hole with a separate trade or signing. should be fun the next 2 weeks I expect a couple blockbuster trades and maybe the hawks will be involved. |

Their is talk that Ottawa might bring back spezza,so they won’t trade forAA.But I could see AA traded after July 1st,maybe Saad, but no way they trade Keith unless he wants out.I could see them trading one of the Hawks young defencemen with Hayden to try getting another 1st round pick but it would probably be for a 2nd or 3rd round pick.Soon as the playoffs are over,we should be hearing a lot more chatter about signings and trade rumours. |

Does anyone really think Hayden has much street value in a trade? Sweetener or straight up - I don't
Thanks for a late night blog Tyler!!! |

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - and this is my personal hot take:
Joker will not be a Blackhawk for very long. I think he is going to be the one that gets squeezed out when push comes to shove.
Call it a gut feeling, call it intuition, doesn't matter. I don't really have reasoning behind it either, but I'm going off of a hunch.
If Colliton really liked the kid, he would not have been sent down to the A for more seasoning. That was just the "safe" thing to do, and it saved face. |

Hmmmm ,Nazem Kadri....well , in the old-school thinking of hockey, first order of business for him, he knows next year when he plays the Bruins he’s going to have to “pay up “let’s see if he is man enough to “answer the bell “,
I do like his grit plus he can play and score goals. Hell I wonder if Washington is going to be in the “we’re open for business “mode also.
We do have a lot of skill now we need to get a couple players that can play and score goals and also protect these guys. |

Re-tool on the fly??? Mr. Duncan Keith headed to Florida. Can just see that happening. With Tallon and now Q there? |
|
|
|
I totally agree about Joki. I hope it doesn't happen because I really think he is going to be a sold D, but it is obvious that Colliton and Q had two extremely different opinions about him. He is not one of Colliton's guys, I fear. |

Moving all 3 of those guys would be a dream come true for me personally.......but.....what does Bowman do with all that cap space would be the follow up.

Just to play devil's advocate but I think Boqvist could be the one to be moved especially if the Hawks see Gustafsson as the Boqvist of today for several more seasons. Boqvist would bring the most back in a trade.
It's a big risk, of course, because what if Gustafsson had only one monster season in his system and goes down hill from here while Boqvist lives up to potential to become >>> than #56.
Also reading the tea leaves that Tyler threw on the table with Keith and a top defensive prospect as trade bait, then that could point to Byram as the player the Hawks select at #3 as gifman said in his earlier post. |

Tyler:.... Dylan Crawford Is one of the Hawks video coaches, sounds to me like his dad possibly has had more than a few occasions to interact with Jeremy Colliton,Today’s Chicago Tribune is the story on it. And breaks it down. |

Stan almost foams at the mouth when talking about Boqvist, I think they are absolutely elated about him, and the next marketed player.
I think Beaudin is the prospect that gets moved if that's the case. Not much hype around him either, so the team could afford the "PR hit".
Gus is a really interesting case to me because while he obviously has his defensive deficiencies with positioning, he EASILY has the best stick on the team. I'm not sure if there's an official stat that measures passes that are broken up, but he has to lead the team in that regard. Lightning quick stick and he had ample examples of breaking up 2-on-1's, 3-on-2's, etc. because of how active/quick his stick is. MAYBE (just maybe) he improves his defense just enough to not be a complete liability/one-way player.
If that's the case, he obviously gets re-signed, and the team is fortunate enough to have two lethal PP QB's in Gus and Boqvist to take that unit to another level.
But if Gus continues to be a one-trick pony this season? I don't see him being on the team beyond the trade deadline, because this team is likely not contending and their defense continues to be a dumpster fire. |

Having a really poopty team is a dream of yours? |

Wonder if Stan will play that "cost certainty " card like two years ago. Back then he traded Panarin with 2 years left for Saad with 4 years left. Hammer who had 2 years left traded for Murphy with 5 years left.
Maybe he'll try to flip Saad for someone with longer term this summer.
Edit - Using the same reasoning, wonder if Gus is among the trade candidates. |

Beaudin is the dman prospect whom has the best handle and plays the best defensively. He appears to be a stt9ng candidate to become solod defensively in the NHL. I really do not thinknBowman wants to tradr any of his dmen prospects. He envisions a really skilled + mobile blueline crew.
The wild card is indeed the bold moves ehich may orvnsybnot occur. |
