Agree with these choices EXCEPT giving the award to a player on the losing team. If STL wins you can’t give it to Rask.
Side note: No way Giguire should have won over Brodeur in 2003. Yes....still bitter! |

Tuuka if Boston wins. Binnington if St Louis wins. That's my take at least |

Tuuka Rask. He's good. He has an abnormally large forehead though. |

While Brodeur outplayed Giguere in the Cup Final, I think there's little doubt that Jiggy was the best goalie of the 03 Playoffs. Giving up only one goal in the Conference Final is I think what sealed it for him, along with his insane play in overtime. |

Going off the reservation, but Schenn was starting to fire up against San Jose once Berube moved him back to center. I'm taking him.
Blues in 6, Schenn with 4g 3a. |

Doesn't matter. The TEAM LOST! So what is JSG then....the Most Valuable (Losing) Player? It's a freaking oxymoron. |

Eh, Giggy carried a mediocre team on his back and was overall better in the 4 rounds. |

A player can be far and away the best player in playoff/final and still have his team end up runner-up. I think that winning should be factor, but not a requirement. |

Yeah, I don't normally respond but this guy is so wrong. While I do agree it should usually go to the winning team giguere had arguably one of the best playoff performances of all time. I have no horse in this race personally but to look at those two rosters at the time and especially what giguere did against the wild (5 goals in 4 games I believe in the conference finals!) is just about as deserving a winner as there could be |

The Conn Smythe Trophy is awarded to the most valuable player in the playoffs. You'll notice that the winning team is not mentioned. You also realize that Giguere was not the first to win it on a losing team, right? Between his overtime magic, one goal against in the 3rd round, pushing NJ to 7 games, and leading a Ducks team that had no business being in the Stanley Cup Final, I'd say he earned it. |

He only allowed one goal against in the Wild, in Game 4. He shutout Minnesota in the other three games. |

Boston wins and Rask gets it.
STL wins Schwartz gets it, especially if he scores a big goal or two in the finals. To the guy who picked Schenn for MVP, I disagree that he wins the Conn Smythe, but totally agree he is primed for a big finals here. He’s the player on the Blues I expect to have the biggest impact in comparison to the first 3 rounds. |

I agree with Rask, but I am a little surprised that no one has said Marchand. 18 points in 17 games. He's had a great run and aside from the punch on Harrington, he's exercised a lot of self restraint. |

It's kinda sad that this is listed as a positive for a player. |

Read everyone's comments but still completely disagree. I would NEVER award the Conn Smyth to a member of a losing team. It's a very similar argument when voting for league MVP....you gotta make the playoffs to win the award. (See McDavid)
Plus the stats were very close:
JSG - 15-6 record, 1.62 GAA, .945 sv% and 5 shutouts
MB - 16-8 record, 1.65 GAA, .934 sv% and 7 shutouts
So with almost the same stats, why doesn't the Stanley Cup winning goalie take home the Conn Smyth? I just don't buy it! |

Because Jiggy was the far better goalie in rounds 1 through 3 and carried a far weaker to team to game 7 of the Cup Final. I'd call that a pretty good argument for why he won. |

Far better? How? Again, the stats are almost identical for all 4 rounds and Marty won the most important game......the last one, via a shutout to boot!
