Not his fault ... Can’t win if you don’t score.
- JEFF SPICOLI

He carried them there and it wasn’t his fault they didn’t bury the chances but every goal was soft. They needed the saves in game 7 and he didn’t deliver. The refs were a factor this series but end of the day you let a club hang around and body you and after crushing them 2 times lay an egg the following game is unacceptable. (frank)ing sucks

Disappointing ending for sure but the future is bright. Got some absolute warriors on this team.

3 shots at the cup for this core and only got there once... That stings a little.

Now that it’s over, let’s all try to stay engaged in the off-season. You guys are awesome... the only reason I still come to this dumb site.

i have to admit, as much as hate the bruins....it would not have killed me to see chara pickup the cup.

there will never be a player like him again.

At least we've had great looks and got one.

Played with fire once too often without top end control of play and even strength production. Lots of guys played lights out, unfortunately not the ones who could put it over the top. Not one, not two, but all three top wingers were a train wreck for most of the playoffs. Watched highlights of every single game and it's astounding how many negative moments 88 had . And they didn't show passed up shots. Ain't gonna hate, just the way it is. Regular season when the top line was dominant every night just didn't carry over for whatever reason.

13, 90, 52, 47, 73 and of course 40 great nearly throughout.

Sucks

He's something all right. One of the greatest pure defenders.

Yep...

Thing that stands out to me is their home record over the years in elimination games; its (frank)ing awful

2009- lose to Carolina in OT
2010- choke against Philly
2011- Win- thank (frank)ing god
2012- lose to Wash in OT
2013- lose to Chi in SCF
2014- lose to Habs in 7th game
2017- lose to Ottawa in OT
2018- lose to TB
2019- ugg- lose 3 home games

All home games...all losses. I have no idea why, but that is epic bad

To me, they should have had 3 Cups this decade. 2011/2014/2019. 2013 was a tough one as a billion injuries and played a good team. 2014 stands out to me as best record in league and lost to a weaker Hab team...on home ice in 7th game

They all sting but this year, the path was pretty clear and should have won based on team talent. As everyone has said, the lack of scoring by top 2 lines did them in this year.

could have won 1974/1979/1990/2019
1974- good philly team, but Orr and Espo
1979- too many men and then would play weak ranger team
1990- glen wesley puck over wide open net in triple OT
2019-ugg

think the other ones were a stretch, but who knows...

plus 1971 where they blew away the league and scoring records and then some guy named Dryden...

thank christ for 2011 this decade...

I'm ok with parting with some of this core. They lost 4 straight to Philly. No showed on the last day of the season 3 times, twice to miss the playoffs. Couldn't close out Chicago or St Louis. Love em, but there is a choke-ability there.

Zdeno Chara – Multiple fractures in jaw, recovery period is five to six weeks. Will have MRI on lower-body injury.
Kevan Miller – Fractured kneecap, hopeful for start of next season.
Brad Marchand – Abdominal, groin injuries, sprained hand.
Patrice Bergeron – Groin injury, no surgery required.
Noel Acciari – Broken sternum. Further testing to be done on right foot, currently in walking boot.
Jake DeBrusk – Concussion.
John Moore – Broken humerus, four to six month recovery.

Big list...Rat said he wrecked his wrist before the playoffs...Moore played great considering this injury...

Rat also re-aggravated his injury during the stupid ‘scrimmage’ before the start of the finals. Ugh

In hindsight with that list of injuries, rest might have been a better option.

Team needs to improve a bit 5 on 5 imo. Got dominated 5 on 5 in the series. There were several shifts I can remember off the top of my head where even the top line were just hemmed for a minute plus at a time that lead to big goals including the OT winner in game #2.

They were too ride and die with special teams, that's problematic in these big playoff games when the whistles get put away.

Not a fan of Heinen personally, I'd try and keep MoJo and ship off Heinen if possible.

Probably stuck with Backes for one more year as the buy-out savings are negligible according to cap friendly.

Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak
DeBrusk-Krejci-Nyquist
MoJo-Coyle-Kuhlman
Nordstrom-Kuraly-Wagner
Acciari-Backes

Chara-McAvoy
Krug-Carlo
Grzelcyk-Moore
Clifton

Rask
Halak

Package Heinen and Miller if possible. Buy-Out Backes' final season next year when it makes financial sense and sign or trade for a more consistent second line RW to play with Ute and Jake.

If Heinen could just finish he'd be a terrific 3rd liner. Just looks like he can do everything well to me but lacks the size and strength he needs.

Guess we can reluctantly move Miller, only because of his injury issue. Sucks because I absolutely love him and he's an underrated player with the puck

Really feel it's time to give Kuraly time in the top three. Anywhere. He's no sniper but he can score and he just constantly makes things happen and plays solid. Heinen could play 4th. Not a traditional banger line but a smart one.
When is Seattle coming? Do we need to look at keeping guys we can expose??

I'm a fan of Heinen...I would liked to have him on the first line when they were struggling...very responsible defensively and I can pretty much guarantee he would not have given up puck like Pasta did on 2nd goal in game 7...I liked them when they played before together

Some combo of Rask, Z, Bergy, Rat and Krejci have a little Buffalo Bills in them. I hate to say it.

Lets not forget losting 4 straight to Philly in 2010....Rask was in net for that.

Absolutely. Was begging for that line to e broken up since the 1st game. Just terrible stubbornness imo, they sucked. Feasted on pp points and that's it. Heinen not 1st line talent but they played great together. I like Cassidy but you have to adjust.

Well at least we got one

Rask. Was so solid all the way. Just one more top game and he gets two big trophies. Shame.

Nobody that saw 2010 will forget it, especially since it was before the big win. That was just the lowest point of my fan life Euphoria when Looch got that goal from the wing, but when JVR got that goal there was a terrible sinking feeling. Oh God
