If you can get a top 5 (realistically top 10) pick for Nylander, you pull the trigger.

Get out from under that awful contract and play the new pick. That ELC would allow them to add another dman.

Better yet, try to do something with Marleau and Zietsev, thats 10.75 mil of cap space

100% hand pass but by the rules they can't review it and it happened so fast they missed it.

The NHL should:

A) Review every single goal.

B) Allow coaches to challenge ANY call with a delay of game penalty for lost challenges.

Problem solved.

- JohnFergusonJr

Meh, it looks like it may have hit a leg prior to the SJ player passing it to EK.
Hard to tell.
And no....remove all coaching challenges....coaches shouldnt be able to challenge a single thing. The league watches every game, simply have someone call down to the refs that the play is under review.

(frank) review. We’re all female doging about offsides reviews anyways so why add to something that’s already proven to be a problem? Review whether a puck crossed the goal line and that’s it.

May be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t give a (frank) if a guy is an inch offsides. Offsides review was an overcorrection to an egregious offsides. What was it Duchene?

No thanks

And don’t even get me started on the inconsistencies of reviewing goaltender interference

Reviewable. Then he should be executed by hanging from the Real Sports bar balcony.

Although we’d have to measure it first. His feet may touch the ground from the first one. May need to boogy up a floor

Ok ok ok, hold up...

How the F is Doughty + a better option than Tkachuk and Chabot?!!!?

I’m clearly not the crazy one. You guys have no idea how good Brady and Thomas are, none whatsoever.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

chabot is still young, but he was on the ice for the most 5v5 goals against for D last season.

Chabot 1376min - 83ga

For comparison
Gardiner 1135min - 37ga

Chabot had a crazy run early on and scored a bunch of points, but came back to earth. Good player, but needs a lot more time to grow

The league and their officiating are a joke. I rarely get bothered by it anymore.
Offside, if its not called within 3 -5 seconds of the puck crossing the blue line, then play continues. If it turns out it wasnt offside, the team that challenged gets a penalty. Heck gve them a 5 min major lol
Goalie interference, goalie steps out of the grease, hes fair game, even if its half a skate or his blocker or glove hand go beyond the blue paint. Hes fair game. Any contact that is made to a goalie that has both feet and limbs in the grease, is interference. No review. Its just interference.
None of he above will ever occur. But.

I 100% agree. Like who seriously cares if a guy is a half an inch offside? I get teams are going to challenge it, because they'd be stupid not to, but do you really think that gives anyone an advantage playing a game at that speed (you being people in general, not you specifically)?

I hate review and I was for it before it was instituted. I was wrong and I want it gone. For that reason I will never advocate for additional reviews no matter what the call or the circumstances.

I hated that the refs missed the puck go out of play in the CBJ Bruins game, which resulted in a goal against us, but I don't want them to review that. What if it's missed and play goes on for 5 minutes and the team that didn't shoot the puck out of play goes down and scores a goal. Do you unwind all of what happened? (frank) no. Hard pass.

In fairness to Chabot, he averaged over 24 minutes a game on a really bad Ottawa team.
Gardiner averaged 21 minutes a game on a really good team.

Weird how his ga is so high being on a team that had the worse ga in the league. Also, the 3 players that had a +/- above 0 played under 21 games. Everyone else had a horrible +/-, chabot being 11th worse on the team. Im not a big +/- fan, but i thought i would add it in.
The kids 2nd season in the league, when most take a little step back, he excelled. Doubled his point production with 7 more games.
But yes, he needs so much more time to grow, expected for a 22 year D with only 2 years in the league.

I understand that, but even in Gardiners Rookie year he was on the ice for 59 (1268 min). and has never come close to 83

Erik Karlsson was on for 82 in his last season in Ottawa, and he is considered terrible defensivley.

I think its fair to say he had a rough year on the D side even considering the team

Karma is a funny thing, one of the best and dirtiest d-man in history - Chris Pronger got away with as many high sticks and cross-checks as Chara, then one day a dirty little nobody of a player (I think he was a Leaf at the time) high sticked him and ended his career.

The whole team did. Its his 2nd year, he doubled his points, and he had the highest TOI on the team.

So you're saying that the Leafs can't trade Kadri?

the thing that gets me the most upset is the off-side review. The Nylander review specifically, where his skate blade was above the blue line, and then 20 seconds later the Leafs score.. Goal gets called back because the heel of his skate was off the ice.. Such a stupid rule

No, saying that Grabovski will come out of retirement and "Accidentally" high stick Chara in the eye.

Personally, I don't think they should. I just don't see who plays 3C. His suspension killed the Leafs in that series and it showed how important he is to your team. I don't think the Leafs have an in house replacement and I'm not sure you have the cap space after the Marner contract to fit in a center of his caliber. Like it or hate it, outside of a trade for a good 3C, Kadri will be back IMO.

Holy (frank)ing poop. The refs just gave San Jose another (frank)ing undeserved win.

If Boston - San Jose is the SCF this year, what colour are the refs going to wear !?
