While in Buffalo, Vanek wanted to hear exactly what Darcy Regier’s plan was for the Sabres and he really heard nothing so that’s why he didn’t re-sign. I always used to have conversations with Vanek and Jason Pominville about the Bills. Vanek has been getting 3rd line mins with pp time the past 3 yrs or so. He’s a better option than Pommer for a 3rd liner and it’ll only cost $2-2.5 mil.
