Let me be specific, in a kind and friendly way.....This is the Cheap Bastard that COST the City of Buffalo a Stanley Cup out of pure greed.

- MEBSabresFAN

actually it was darcy deciding to go all in on kotalik and connolly, which is why briere left as there was no money for him

briere wanted to stay, darcy was focused on drury

drury shunned us and then darcy let soupy leave and overpay for goose and hecht as a knee jerk reaction

if they kept briere and jp over kotalik and connolly, team would have been much better IMO

then pay soupy and move on from hecht

vanek-hayes-nylander
sheary-e-rod-pommer

that's fine for bottom 6

- homiedclown

We need a better veteran presence that'll hold guys accountable. Pommer AND Vanek ain't it.

I'm good w one. Too much Charmin on the ice and especially in the dressing room for my liking.

sheary, hayes, e-rod, pommer, olofsson (he killed them in rochester) and teach casey how to kill penalties

2 years $10M is really (frank)ing far from cost controlled.
- Wetbandit1

I adjusted after my error at CapFriendly and my being behind a yr

I would take him at 1 yr 3m

Not at all. I like the idea of the "change up" tandem of Eichel and ERod - but that's a once every 3 or 4 games idea just to throw the opposition off.

It all came out after the fact.

Darcy admitted he had to deal from a COST - CONTROLLED format that other GM's Did not, I'm not saying Darcy didn't make mistakes, but it was Tom's Greed that prevented the team to sign those players. We took Briere to ARB when all he wanted was 5m5yrs!!!

wasn't given much of a chance with housley

he was as good as any of them back in the day

instinct never goes away and I never had an issue with the effort Pommer has ever given this team

he would be fine for a rotation on the second pk unit

I see more usefulness having Vanek at 1yr than Pommer 1yr

I like the Duchene signing.

I'm just wondering if we're one solid, character vet short. That's not an easy get, either.

Maybe on D? How is Colin Miller in that dept? Let's trade for him. Lol

Briere wanted to be here, they didn't want him. They wanted Drury, he didn't want to be here, then Darcy sat on his hands and let the Oilers burn him.

If they actually committed to your "get rid of Okposo" plan, I'd see the place for Vanek and/or Pommer on a 1 year deal. Do we dare to dream that they'd actually be able to pull an Okposo move off?

Yup. Unbelievable. They lost Briere in 06. How could they not pay the man after a post season like that?

https://en.wikipedia.org/..._team_payrolls_in_the_NHL

they were 5% over the average payroll and a small market team

tom gave him a cap, and darcy was too stubborn to admit the peca trade was a mistake and held onto connolly

They chose Drury and Drury stiffed them.

It was insane to choose Drury in the first place

In my eyes (and I'm not in the dressing room) he doesn't seem to be.

Someone mentioned Grier earlier. Grier and Drury were like the dressing room police, from what I heard. You're going to play hard with those guys looking at you from across the room.

Look at San Jose's dressing room. Yikes. No wonder Kane is being a good soldier.

That is completely irrelevant. Briere should’ve got the contract he was seeking in 06.

Every former teammate who talks about Grier does so with a sense of reverence. He was some sort of leadership guru

darcy wanted roy and connolly as his centers

4 biggest mistakes he made

1. not locking up briere
2. letting soupy leave
3. letting jp leave
4. holding onto kotalik, hecht, connolly
