Auston Matthews not afraid to muck it up and use his size? You have to be kidding as Matthews rarely goes into the corners and almost never throws a body check. I bet Hughes will play a more physical game than Matthews.

No NHL forwards of the Finnish team. Of course Kakko is going to look good with the ice time he's getting. Compare that to the US team who have many proven NHL forwards, Hughes is getting less ice time and less of a roll. Sometimes you need to do the math before we jump to conclusions. Typical media blah blah blah. Let's talk about this in 4 years.

The Devils are "bottom feeding perennial lottery picks"? Remind me, when was the last time the Flyers won a cup? Or went to the Finals? NJ has done both more recently than Philly.

Does it really matter if you’re not drafting 1 or 2?

Hey EK, why don’t you read your own bloggers articles before posting stuff like this. Todd Cordell posted a great article on why Hughes should definitely be the 1st pick

That’s cute.

LA 2 cups > NJ 0 cups in cap era (WAY HARDER)

Perhaps if NJ had spent to the cap in 1995, 2000 and 2003 you might have a point. Even though there wasn’t a cap, the team operated as if in a cap era.

Nice try though

This is one of my biggest frustrations with the kid. He has the size but rarely uses it. The times when he gets pissed off and does he's dominant. I would really like to see him develop a mean streak.

The obvious comparison here is the 2016 draft of Matthews and Laine. Matthews is a strong American Center that has lived up to the Hype but it doesn't mean Laine isn't an incredible goal scorer and a huge addition to the Jets. A Finish RW with huge offensive talent, just like Kakko. I think NJ will get the better player and he will most likely be a huge addition to NJ but Kakko is also going to be huge.

Picks one and two are great but I think Byram is the underrated player in the draft and he will be a huge defender for whichever team lucks out in getting him. This is an interesting draft with some great talent in the top 8. Checkout Cozens and Dach on youtube if you get the chance. All teams in the top 10 are winners in this draft (if they don't screw up their pick that is).
