Thanks again for the write up Ben! Hard not to be interested in centers Suzuki and Tomasino.

Tomasino is my pick and he should be available around then

Can't go defense, the system lacks center depth and if there's a good one available then they need to snag him.

Speaking of defense prospects though (I have no idea if it was mentioned):

Mike Morreale @mikemorrealeNHL
22h
.@HuskiesRn defenseman Noah Dobson (NYI prspct) was named Most Valuable Player of the @QMJHL Playoffs after leading all defensemen in scoring. He had 29 pts (8-21) in 20 gms as Huskies win 2nd league championship. Huskies and host Halifax now advance to Memorial Cup tourney

Staple posted this on Twitter last night but no one is on here anymore so I didn't bother to post it. Sucks the isles offense failed against canes, they had plenty of opportunities in first 3 games and couldn't convert. Boston ownes the canes so far. If the pattern holds then isles sweep pens. Canes sweep isles, Bruins sweep canes, western champ sweeps bruins.....I was good at spotting patterns on my C.A.T tests

It's gonna be an interesting offseason. Lots of work to be done.

John Shannon @JSportsnet
now
Just following up on Arthur’s piece, Lane Lambert will indeed get at interview in Anaheim.

Probably going to lose Lambert this offseason and unfortunately I don't mean Ryan

depending how the early picks go in the draft I would love to see the Isles move up if a Zegras, Podkolzin, or Newhook falls. Hoping a lot of D-man are drafted early and the forwards fall into our lap.

Podkolzin is the only one of those players who will fall and I think he will, at least a little bit. He's signed for two more years in Russia. Zegras is probably a top-7 pick (strong possibility of going top-5) and Newhook will be top-15, if not top-10

Doubtful he makes it to 23 though, too much skill

I say trade the pick. See if we can get a piece of the puzzle for a top six forward

That was why I was saying they should try to move up in the draft if they fall. I know those guys won't fall to 23 but possibly to 15-19 and Isles can move up to get em.

I'm not sure what they'd be giving up to move up 4-8 slots. They have one second round pick and no third (or fourth) round pick

I'm no Bailey fanboy, but trade Bailey and we have two RW's left on the NHL roster right now. Leo the $12M Dud and Cal "Literally has a broken back" Clutterbuck.

I think Bailey's time may come, possibly as soon as next offseason, but it's not here yet

I think he is gone this summer. One of the few guys that just didn't get the Trotz safety first system. possibly wishful thinking on my part but you have to sell a guy like him on the highs.. and that playoff run is about as high as he is going to get.

I mean I won't tell you what to think, but these are the only NHL forwards (one of them isn't even an NHL forward) the Islanders have signed for next season as of right now:

Two of them have serious injuries that may cause them to miss, at least, the start of next season. I don't think now is the time to be trading Bailey anywhere. Leddy is the only real roster player that's likely to be moved.
