I totally forgot that Bure was Captain of the Panthers. Imagine if his knees never gave out on him, he probably would have been able to add a few more 50 goal seasons.

Is there a promising, ready for the NHL defensive defenseman who is stuck behind more established players somewhere? That's what I'd like to see a deal made for, but I also don't know who that player may be.
Trouba seems determined to choose his next team. (He will be UFA next summer, correct?) Even if the Jets traded him, he still might not be interested in signing an extension with that new team. He could be a free agent target for FL next summer, if they don't find what they want this year.

I think that for Trouba, he either signs a 6ish year deal with Winnipeg or the team that Winnipeg trades him to, if he is traded. Or a sign and trade type of thing. I think he will get a deal before he becomes UFA.

Trouba's value is at a peak right now, so I am expecting him to be dealt at the draft ... or sign long term for the Jets. Neither would surprise me but if he is moved, the return has to be huge. I'm not saying Lindros Huge but the Jets will need either a 2nd line centre (Trochek) or a blueline replacement for him (Ekblad) plus maybe a couple other parts on either side of the deal. Personally I really like Huberdeau. But I don't see him being moved.

A couple Jets fans chimed in last week with some similar thoughts into Trouba, Meyers, etc.

Always appreciate getting the insight from the fans of other teams

I could def see Trouba going down one of the avenues you listed. He had an incredible season. I thought Winnipeg was pretty solid defensively (both current roster and in the system), but it sounds like they would possibly want a replacement for him if moved?

What do you think is more needed for the Jets right now: a more cost-effective replacement on the blueline (I don't think that would be Ekblad, but maybe?) and some pieces or a 2C with some pieces?

Winnipeg's blue line is in OK shape, but when both Buff and Morrissey went out, it kind of showed how susceptible they were to injury. If the Jets have neither Trouba or Myers on the team next year, they would need at least one really good blue liner to replace them in order to not miss a beat. Maybe they can get that through free agency? They have some guys who build a nice supporting cast but losing both of Myers and Trouba would be a huge blow.

I tend to think that if they can acquire a 2C in exchange for Trouba, they can fill the blue line spot from within (but they'll miss Trouba for sure).

Funny how Buff has really developed into a force on the blue line. He's sort of a throwback guy to make the opposition afraid to come over the blue line. Scott Stevens style (though not quite on that level).

He fit in well on the Hawks as a power forward who would park himself in front of the net - but Chicago's defense at the time was so solid, there was no need to start the transition process to defense at the time. Wonder if it started when he was in Atlanta and if it was more out of necessity for that team?

The Jets have NHL ready d-men in the minors but Maurice is hesitant to play rookies. I still believe that the Jets will trade Trouba at the draft and Florida would be one team that would be interested and Trouba would sign a long term contract with. I know that the Jets would want a solid center in return but I don't think Trocheck would cut it. I'm not sure what else the Pathers could offer for Trouba.
