why do people do this? seriously, over 35 no CAP relief if they retire, and no CAP relief if they are bought out?

now I know I'm not the fastest... but why would the Leafs buyout Marleau again?

they are going to pay him to stay home LTIR after an injury in training camp

deal with it

because not everyone is a crazy idiot hockey fan like us idiots here who sit and live and breath this poop.

some dont know about that..actually a lot..id be surprised if i asked 20 hockey fans that 5 of them knew

i think these takes need to calm the (frank) down

poop happens, he is young and isnt alone in this, he gets advice from an Agent. Live an Learn. sounds like he regrets it. takes 2 sides also

I watched the game, it certainly looked like Nylander upped his game as the season went on

- senstroll

He did a bit yes.

Then faded in the playoffs.....outside of one game

Sorry, didn't know there was follow up tweet.

William Nylander also expressed confidence that he'll be able to return to his best form next season and silence his critics: "After my performance, I have to change their opinion and play the way I know I can."

Chris Johnson

Next to signing Marner the top priority for Dubas is to find a RHD to play next to Rielly. You can't expect Rosen or Sandin or Zaitsev to fill that spot. Gardiner and Hainsey are likely gone. Nylander is underperforming his contract, however, after July 1st he's paid $4.2 million per year with a $6.7 million cap hit. Pretty good value for a budget team looking for skill with upside. I'd like him to stay and try to fix his game playing next to Matthews but cap constraints may not allow for it.

Even with Gardiner and Hainsey most likely gone. There isnt much cap space. Questions at forward will have to be dealt with if we want to improve the D.
Kap and AJ over Nylander? Nylander over Kap and AJ?

My gawd they're still paying kessle 1.2m ...jesus.

- Fakepartofme

for me... that's an easy decision - and should be for Dubas as well.

Marner - played well most of the series, nothing on the stat sheet the last couple of games but didnt float around. Up against the best line.
AJ - Played ok, not sure what people were expecting.

Makes sense.. Dubas just said that he's to blame for the poor PK.. That he didn't do enough to help the team have a successful PK..

I agree.
Maybe he could keep all three, maybe sign AJ and kap to a cheap 1 year deal, hoping that they perform at the same rate, nylander gets back to his 60pt ways and we get Marleau off the books the following year.
both Kap and AJ then could cost us more long term, but you wouldnt have to move either out next year.
Move out brown for sure.

Did I miss something? I thought we were all blaming this on Matthews, due to refusing to go on the ice when Babcock asked..

Matthews continually said; 'Don't put me in coach'

It's funny.. Dubas take responsibility for the poor PP/PK, and Babcock didn't say poop about it.. Didn't take any ownership of it..

On a side note, Dubas stuttered quite a bit.

Meh, the guy is a nerd. Maybe public speaking isn't his strong suit.

Doesn't matter if he does his job well.

And I think he did pretty good overall in his first year.

No one is blaming nylander for the leafs loss.
Its ok.
I know you get defensive any time willie's poor play is brought up that you make it seem like that we are blaming him.
Not the case.

Johnsson was ok most of the series.
Kap was nowhere to be found
Leafs needed more from everyone in the final game......which JT scored in. But 5 pts in 7 games against what most considered one the best lines in hockey...is still good.
could have used more from marner stats wise the final two games....for sure. But he was so much better than willie.

Not having a single centreman who can kill a penalty didn't help.

Dubas took one for the team, even though he didnt need to.
Babs says leafs need more depth. Ok...but down by 2, game 7...double shift the big boys babs.

Soooo, Dubas blames himself for everything during his presser. If he feels that way then maybe he was not ready for the job or never will be.
